Yes I nearly tagged that on the end, but I was trying to be positive. The match today was disappointing, but it was a million miles away from the crap we watched last season.

That’s the point....Bowyer isnt thick. We’re the bookies favs for the title and newly relegated. He will know teams will come here sit back and try frustrate us.

RE prima donnas, thats what few posters are saying further up the thread......that a few of our lads today think they are too good for league two.

On balance it was probably an average league two game, not good by any manner or means but no reason for booing, Bowyer has done nothing but praise the fans and their support and preached to the new players what a good crowd we have who get behind the team....then you hear that :(.

I hope he does know that most teams will try to "sit back and frustrate us" I also hope he knows how to combat this today's result/performance shows he needs to work on this
Still not too sure where I mentioned our players thought they were too good for L2

The level of impatience, by those booing today, is embarrassing. Absolute bellends.

My take from todays game is that

    Positives
I am glad SR was there to see where we need strengthening.
    Defence looks well organised.
We won the ball back a lot after losing possession.
    Competitive across the pitch-except Anderson
Made lots of chances-with a bit of composure we could easily have won 2/3-0 today.
Donaldsons movement and hold up play nice to see
    Vaughan getting stuck in
BRE looks to hit some decent passes -except THAT shot at the end

    Negatives
    Slow build up play
4-3-3 doesnt work with Doyle in the team
Should have gone 4-4-2 immediately after their sending off or even 3-5-2
Henley looked slow and not in tune with the game in general
    Anderson isnt up to it
Palmer drifted in and out of the game.
Gibson tried but just doesn't seem to make the right pass
Palmer and Gibson both passing back/sideways when no Cambridge players were near them. Both could easily have turned and started more attacks
Why did we hardly pass to Scannell?
Fans booing in upper kop at the end of the game....jesus h christ. Get a grip.

Was the other posted quoting your stats that said it.

The problem was evident for all to see. Anderson was ready to be subbed so we brought on Devine to try change the game and liven things up. He could barely get a kick last year and its been the same for years.

We look short of quality in CM but the budget was already stretched. Maybe, just maybe, now McBurnie has gone, we might be able to fund a decent loanee to improve us in the coming weeks though.

Anyone who thinks the "overreaction" on here is at the back of one game needs their head testing. It's an accumulation of frustration and disappointment for the best part of 2 years and today's game (by all accounts as I wasn't there) seems like another case of here we go again. It might be harsh on the new lads but the patience this season is going to wear thin and expectations rightly or wrongly will be very high.

As you say Dave an average L2 game disappointing that we didn't put away one of the weakest teams in the league at home. There has been a lot of optimism on this board on the lead up to today's match which didn't live up to expectations We will face a lot better teams than Cambridge this season
and will have to perform a lot better to gain points

You didn't see A O'Connor constantly moaning at everyone all game then. At one point he was telling Clayton Donaldson what to do. The man's a dick.

Given he got Blackpool out of this league, I'm sure he's well aware of what we are likely to be up against from other teams in this league.

UOTE="borderlescott, post: 242110, member: 1176"]Nope. Bowyer is naive if he expected otherwise.

But to suggest the players didn’t apply themselves is nonsense. The set up wasn’t quite right today and some of the men in that XI probably aren’t the right men for us (looking at CM and Doyle in a front three) But our shortcomings weren’t down to a lack of desire as suggested earlier in this thread.[/QUOTE]
Some common sense here. We did not win today because of lack of effort or players being billy big bollocks. We didn’t win because we weren’t good enough on the day because the way we set up killed our chances from the outset. Hopefully with players to come back and time left in the transfer window this problem will be rectified.

The only interaction I saw between them was Clayton yelling at O'Connor.

I don't like that O'Connor is still here, don't like the man one bit, but didn't pick up on this.

The amount of times a midfielder receiving the ball centrally from a defender, in space, made a "nothing" pass backwards, was unreal. We need somebody who knows what they are doing in there.

How can we distinguish being a dick from trying to organise his teammates when we are in the stands though? Can you hear from your seat? Im in top tier so can’t.

O’Connor had a good game today. I dislike him given what went on last season with the mutiny under Hopkin, but this season the slate should be wiped clean. He made some key tackles today and played a lovely long ball at one point, straight to his man.

The booing at the end of the game was quite pathetic. Thats who needs their head testing.

Yeah they were doing it without even looking. Its like players these days are fightened to turn with the ball.

O’Connor was decent today but paudie will take his place once he’s fit, I’m sure of it.
