I thought we looked decent at the back and held the ball well in midfield when in possession and chased it down when without.
Doyle looked lost in his role, and despite one excellent flick on, didn’t do much.
Vaughn and Donaldson look a threat. They’ll get plenty of yellow cards between them.
Palmers corners were woeful.
The Team is lacking pace. I really think we need a pacy left winger so we can play a 442 formation without Doyle.
One other thing. We didn’t have a striker on the bench. Can’t remember the last time that happened.
Bowyer needs to go shopping if we’re to go up at the first attempt.

These stats are from the EFL Stats Twitter page and were posted on one of the City groups on Facebook the other day.....but in case anyone missed them....
In the opening fixtures on Saturday, City ranked.....
4th of 24 in the league for completed passes (373) - Forest Green were top (413)
2nd of 24 in the league for aerial success (62 %) - Salford were top (67 %)
3rd of 24 in the league for passing accuracy (79 %) - Crewe were top (82 %)
Yes, we played 30 mins against 10 men but a pleasing start compared to last season, when we fared pathetically bad on most KPIs.Brackenrigg, WilsdenBantam, Stoneski and 1 other person like this. -

If we play a 433, the front three will be Donaldson, Vaughan and Scannell.City loyal, Stoneski and WilsdenBantam like this. -
I would go 4-4-2 start with Vaughan and Donaldson up front and have Doyle as a substitute to be used, replacing probably Donaldson. Gives more options for midfield and can accommodate some width perhaps with Scannell and Gibson playing the wider roles. There is still enough strength and speed with those two, to either get past and then cross the ball, or run at defenders.

There have probably been few stranger opening day results than Norwich City 1-7 Colchester United; of course Norwich went on to be champions that season.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Lepton Bantam, Onside and Bronco like this. -

He got us up the pitch in our shape from the halfway line to the box. When he had it everyone else knew their job and got in position.
Ball carrier is a much overlooked factor in any offensive shape. He may not have had a great statistical impact but he was our most important player in
that team. Id have him back any time as im still not sure who will be our ball carrier this season . Caddis tried hard after Xmas to take up the mantle.Daisy Mcniven, Rocket and Bronco like this. -

City favourites to go up, and Cambridge equally so to drop down a league. WHAT could go wrong ? ...........Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...PlatinumChaosX, CRASS and Stoneski like this. -

Looks a strange team to me. Lacking in balance. Like 2018/19 all over again.... though at least we’ve got some leadership and hopefully some proper defenders
