I’ve seen both this season and he wouldn’t make their bench let alone ours!

 

Their bench probably has more quality on it then ours going off the last few games

 

DH is proving he can extract the best in terms of effort and talent from players.
OP's proven in little flashes there's ability
He's has pace to burn ( son of a sprinter), lets try add a footballing brain to that
DH will work with him, he may get a diamond out of him.
If not, into non-league he goes, he's already contracted to us, we've nothing to lose.

Dont compare him with Kai ffs

 

Not sure why people are comparing him to Kai as they play in totally different positions.

This to me will work a couple of ways. He comes back, they take a look at him and see what they think. If they think he can help the squad out he stays, if not, he goes. Simple as that.

 

I think there might be a player in Patrick.
Get him super fit like the rest of the squad and see what he can do. It’s not long since most of them looked hopeless and out of their depth. Patrick scores a couple of belters last season. Get him strong and fit and who knows.
I would release Kai first.

 

I’m hopeful for the lad.
Before DH came in I didn’t think much of Payne.
He was soft on the ball amd his passing was poor.
It wasn’t until DH came to the club and got confidence in him that Payne really started to preform.
And now look at the lad.
I know that’s Payne, a lad with a lot of natural skill but OP only needs to be a bench player at the minute. He’s still young and can develop certain aspects of his game.
I think he can do a job and wish the lad well.

 

I think it's too soon to judge Hopkin's ability with younger players - but he comes with a good reputation. Also, Wood seems better now than he did a couple of months ago. But I agree, if Patrick can't do it for Hopkin then he can't for anyone as this would then be four managers he's failed under

It'll be interesting to see who he and Robinson (if he comes back) do under him

Agree with the above. Get him up to speed with the current squad in terms of fitness. Focus on his qualities (pace) and work on his gaps and perhaps he might have something to offer from the bench between now and the end of the season. Can’t imagine there is much risk keeping him, as there are others likely to leave before him including McCarten who is unlikely to return IMO.

As someone else mentioned, perhaps focus Patrick as more out wide rather than up top. We haven’t anyone able to play on the left so already he offers the squad something we lack.

 

How many more times does it need spelling out?! Payne always was and always will be a good player at the correct club with a good infrastructure ie. not a deluded crazy German picking the team.
Good influencal players at a club if unhappy will just not play to their to potential and get either the manager or chairman sacked, luckily in our case everybody knew the latter was the problem.
Pogba and Rashford at Man Utd are the classic example, they now look awesome and that’s not because Ole Solskjaer is some genius.

 

he's terrible. absolutely awful footballer. like he's entered a competition in Match! magazine to be a mascot and been mistaken for a player when he turned up, had a kit thrust upon him and forced onto the training ground. and still manages to look he hasn't had any training.

Imagine a scenario where Payne and Ball get recalled leading us to having to start with Patrick and Mccartan. Suddenly 5th bottom might start looking tricky again

 

Can not see Ball being recalled to play for Rotherham

 

I can't see that being the case as if that happened we'd have to dip into the transfer market.

Clutching at straws here, I'm afraid, players may improve but you can't train them into complete players.

That's like saying 'if we can train Payne to be a bit taller he'll win headers'.

But if he plays with confidence and is given a little time maybe just maybe 'I SAID MAYBE' he could creat havoc?

 

Okay he is bab... Robinson and Scannell playing in this team now 'wow' that would be good apart from the two huge major stumbling blocks of course.
