Doesn't their window close earlier as well this year or am I completely lost?

Whilst true, you have to look at it from both sides. What if McBurnie gets a season-long injury, ruling him out of being able prove his worth? What if he stays and Swansea struggle and he gets no service?

Look at Doyle. Nobody remembers his goal scoring ability, other than what he did last season in an abject team. Folks were clamouring for him following his record at Oldham but because he was as badly played and got zero service, some want him releasing on a free.

That maybe the case, but he was also tweeting about it a few weeks ago. I find it interesting that the tweets have been deleted. If that is your view then why delete? They clearly have been using this forum for info, hence the knowledge about the club representatives contributions. It is difficult for the club to comment formally about this, as he is not our player. Swansea will not want to broadcast details of the agreement between the two clubs. The other question is why is Oli and others getting involved? It doesn’t matter to him or anyone else. The other thing that really bugs me is that they are calling into question the integrity of ppl at this club who were involved in drawing up the contract who have clearly stated on more than one occasion that there is a 15% sell on. What this club doesn’t need is for ex players and other media ppl casting aspersions at our club.

That is hardly going to complete the Sheffield United line up, they're in the Prem, they will need to invest far more to have a prayer.

I agree, certainly aim for players that might keep you up - but who are young (ie, not mercenaries looking for a last pay day), have potential, and WILL be successful at Championship should the worst happen.

McBurnie is a perfect signing, and they've got the £20 m to pay for him simply by being in the Prem.

He's hardly a marquee Premier League signing, but makes a ton of sense for Sheffield United.

Prefer a quality midfield player over a winger if we were to bring in just one more player

Sheffield United certainly trying to invest to stay in the Premier league. Good luck to them. If they sign him I hope he does well.

Rupp has a big opportunity here to potentially make his money back and more.

If he reinvests the McBurnie money into the squad and we get some good up and coming talent on the books, allows Bowyer to try and improve them this would hopefully aid promotion, making the club more valuable back in League One. It would also increase the potential value of the squad. Which, again would increase the value of the club (The only tangible asset we as a club have is the playing squad) Therefore it would be more attractive to potential buyers.

You have 4/5 players on the books that are improving on long term contracts in this day and age there's no reason you can't potentially get £1-£3m for those players at some point down the line. Plus then you have 10/20% sell on clauses.

Yes it's speculative but investments are, some won't pay off but some will. £2.6m to Rupp is nothing right now. However invested correctly it could be worth a hell of a lot more than that very quickly.

We're a couple of quality players off being a really good side. If we get a windfall itd be a real shame if we didnt finish the job. It'd also be the best way of optimising Rupps chances of a return on what hes spent. Get it right now and we could create the sort of momentum that sees sides win back to back promotions.

Really hope that is the case Lord as I still think we are a couple short - all I was trying to say is the upturn in mood around the club is in part down to Stefan's support and I see no reason to question his commitment and backing going forward. I know nothing is ever for certain in football but as recently as April this year I honestly didnt see the club being in such an upbeat position going into the new season.
Still a lot of last seasons players who have to win the fans faith back over, I accept this, but even some of them have started to show some promise this pre-season under GB (Gibson and AOC to name 2)

According to sources in Swansea (i.e. their forums), the deal is £17 million, plus £3 million if Sheffield United stay up.

They are also suggesting that Sheffield United have agreed to pay Oli £50k per week.

I'm sure if the above is rubbish, @Yorkshire baller@Yorkshire baller will be along soon to correct me.

The toilets are disgusting - £20 worth of bleach, a mop and some hot water would do for now.

We don't need to invest £2.6m into them.

I don’t even think we’ll need to find them. I think Bowyer will know exactly who he wants. Dead will be lined up, in the event of players leaving or the windfall coming in. He’s meticulous in terms of planning and detail

Agreed.flouting our windfall wont do us any favours if we're in for players either, better to cry the poor tale.

And if he sold the Club at the moment, it is likely that he would get less (in Euro terms). So, it would be far better for him to spend, spend, spend. ;)

It's harder to judge most young players than people realise. Potential is much less obvious than some think. Often people look at a young player and only give them a chance if they're immediately having a big impact on games. Sometimes it's just the subtle bits that you need to spot, and you take a punt that the rest can be developed and coached. It's not unusual for an average looking 19 or 20 year old in league 1 or 2, to have a breakthrough season and transform themselves over a year or two to look like completely different players.

Thats what I mean about there was something there - his control was good, he looked like he had time, his movement was often correct - but it was putting it all together as a young player that was the problem. Ollie also had the height and build to develop strength wise which has helped. Over the past few years here at Woking we have had an assortment of young lads on loan in the striker position who did well and a number of them have gone onto better careers in the leagues - Ollie Palmer, Jack Marriot, Dan Holman and Louis Moult to name but a few.
I know a coach who still think Omari Patrick will develop, lets face it his impact to date has largely been based on his first appearance in a City shirt and he has stalled totally since then - but who knows for sure what he might attain in the next few years
