If it is 15% of profit it is still going to dwarf the highest fee we have received for a player in many of years.

Why, how much have Edin's Babes fetched so far? Must be a sizeable amount.

Doesn’t look like McBurnie is moving well not to Sheffield United at least they have just signed Callum Robertson from Preston for a club record fee

I think they have paid around £5million for Robertson, but according to today's Yorkshire Post,Wilder expects to beat that On more than one occasion,so don't rule McBurnie out yet.

That is hardly going to complete the Sheffield United line up, they're in the Prem, they will need to invest far more to have a prayer.

The sensible thing for them to do is probably to recognise they’ve over reached in the short term. Invest modestly to build a top championship side for the following year, which will be further boosted by parachute payments. Then have another go and create a stronger foundation for premiership survival. If they pull off the unexpected, great, and do enough compete without being whipped every week, but keep enough in reserve and buy the sort of players that will stick around so if you go down, it’s not a full rebuild. I suppose Huddersfield followed a similar approach.

Agreed that's like the Norwich approach. Remember Delia saying she'd not ever mortgage the club

A bit like WBA did for awhile.
It's insane when you think Huddersfield "earned" 93.6M for winning 3 games

Crackers. But if you take a long term view, there are several clubs who've shown the benefit of yo-yoing for a couple of seasons.

I agree, certainly aim for players that might keep you up - but who are young (ie, not mercenaries looking for a last pay day), have potential, and WILL be successful at Championship should the worst happen.

McBurnie is a perfect signing, and they've got the £20 m to pay for him simply by being in the Prem.

He's hardly a marquee Premier League signing, but makes a ton of sense for Sheffield United.

I am not sure Sheffield United will pay 20 million for McBurnie it’s their first year up I just can’t see them parting with that sort of money

Like it or not in a world where Bournemouth can sell their fifth choice centre half for £20m, or Southampton pay £20m for a centre forward who has played fewer than 40 games in four seasons, then £20m is the going rate if you want a striker who might score a few goals.

Last season Wolves bought Traore off Boro and a lad from Spain both for huge money, Fulham spent over £100m. It’s the way football is these days, probably in the scale of the TV deals not a lot different to City dropping £1.3m on Rankin 20 years ago or £1.4m on Wetherall.

It's still early on in the window. I can see a team coming in for him and offering what they want. Circa £20M. Proven goal scorers are quite a commodity. Hes proved he can do it. If not the Blunts there'll be other interest simmering. I hope so anyway
