No. The newest stadium purely for speedway is the Belle Vue track in Manchester. Part of an £11 million development a few years ago, the stadium itself cost £8 million. A redeveloped Odsal would cost many times more and with potentially only one decent sized crowd if a grand prix was held there. Even rugby on top will not sustain a development that size.

Apparently most of the levelling up funds are being directed to the south east, what a surprise

The biggest surprise, is that given the current state of the economy, that they are looking at ‘levelling up’ anywhere. If they have all this ‘spare’ money then there seems to be other areas of the economy where the budget could be used.

Have you seen the state of this statement from the Bulls.

Basically we are disappointed we didn't get this handout so we are looking towards the council for information about any potential future handouts.

    No shame.

What's even more laughable is that Richard Dunn's has been made a listed building, as I drove past the other day it has trees growing near the structure, with money being as tight as it is I'm sure Bradford Council could find better ways of spending our council taxes which idiots made it a listed building, back in the day it was certainly a futuristic building not sure that will apply in 5 years time, just another derelict un-care for building.

As you say make it land fill to bring some revenue in.

Looking back to when these plans were first released on page 1 of this thread, my thoughts were,

"It says £100m cost. You mention £50m fund.
Where is the other £50m coming from?
Why the frig do the Bulls need a 25k stadium when their gates are sub 3k and they don't have a pot to piss in.
Another pie in the sky plan for Superdome mk27.

The £625m these visitors would bring makes me laugh. That's £500 for each visitor.
So a lad and his dad watching a Bulls game is expected to generate £1,000. Is Salt Bae doing the catering?"

Cllr Hinchcliffe said yesterday it was a high calibre bid however it was pulled to pieces at launch. 1.25m visitors, a fully covered stadium for a summer sport, 25k seats for a tenant which only sees 4k average gates, a solar farm, hotels, shopping centres. It was just pure fantasy.

If 25 years ago someone took a step back and proposed a Bolton, Huddersfield, St Helens, Wigan, etc type stadium all this would be off the ground. Instead we have visions of a 70k superdome wembley of the north and this latest one a fully covered stadium with solar farm. Sorry but the councils idiotic visions rather than common sense approach have hamstrung this project at every stage.

The Bradford Bull could benefit with a plan with isn't stupidly far fetched. York have a new stadium that is fitting to the City and the clubs which is why it got off the ground. Sadly this isn't the last we will see of this new plans will be drawn up in the future which will have daft addons to make it completely unviable, after all thats been the story for the last 30+ years.

I would rather they stay there as well, we don’t want our pitch to be ploughed up.

Bradford Bulls should be made to stand on their own two feet and fund every penny of any development wherever it it. Best thing for Odsal would be to sell it to Brisca and let them use it for stocks.

The days of Super league razmataz have gone they would pull in nothing near the gates of 25 years ago ............ how's this for an idea the Bulls fans who jumped on that bandwagon jump back on it again and actually help them get back to the top ?????

No will they hell they all disappeared on mass when the shizzer hit the fan............. if the council was to help any kind of stadium project then City surly should have priority over anyone not a few thousand who sit back waiting for another council bail out.

Simply fill it in and let them move elsewhere rather than this merry go around that we are simply bored of

Yeah, Bulls were one of the best clubs in the World in their pomp and I bet if you told a random on holiday, as you get chatting like you do, that you were from Bradford, they’d more likely know the place (in a sporting sense, not in terms of riots etc) for it’s rugby league team of old, rather than its main football club (BPA are a non entity to me).

I don’t really understand rugby fully as I’ve never played it, but I find it really exciting to watch and used to go with the vouchers from the Taliban and Argus back in the day as a kid. Loved them firing stress balls (RL ones) into the crowd and all the music and dancers.

I took my lad to their playoff game vs York a few weeks ago as its on my doorstep and been wanting to go back to a game for a while. Enjoyed it.

Tempted to get an ST next year as kids go free, but the mrs is having none of it as football takes up too many weekends as it is. Might just end up paying in on the day a few times instead as it does feel like something positive is happening at the club again with an exciting coach coming in and key players retained.

……if Bulls do well and bring money to the city, that’s great news for Bradford, and only a good thing.

I agree. There will be far more people in the world that know about City's FA Cup win at Stamford Bridge than know anything about the Bulls.

My late father worked for Bradford council Recreation department. Odsal stadium was part of this, not sure if true , but he told me the peppercorn rent the Bulls paid for use of the stadium was £1 per week.
They then got a £250,000 loan a few years back, under Gerry Sutcliffe and Omar Khan's ownership and its still unclear what sort of interest was charged, if any or if the loan was ever re paid.
The Bulls have been in the council tax payers pockets far too much over the years, Either stand on your own 2 feet or give it up as a bad job.
    NO MORE HAND OUTS.

Not really or the folk who actually know me say different but I do apologise if I don't share your views about the parasite club up Manchester road

You remember our admin years when the council stood back and did nothing for us while handing the Bulls millions you recall that.

Hollow fan base who deserve nothing but expect everything.
