    Hi,

I'm a City Ambassador and a former Director/Associate Director. Like Roger Owen, I've been volunteering my time at the club so I help in the commercial and marketing areas.

I've reviewed the OP and amendments have been made to the ticket information to make it clear that we don't take cash at turnstiles, how you can pay on the day via the ticket office etc. I'm in tomorrow and will review further edits.

If there's anything else that you believe will be helpful to clarify, add to this post and I'll take them into account.

    Thanks.

OP had a point. I believe we should have a cash turnstile, anything at all that puts any obstacle in the way of a person turning up and giving BCFC cash is not positive. We are l.o.n.g overdue stopping the daft mechanism whereby a customer has to queue twice to gain entry, once to purchase a tickets and again to hand it over, bonkers.

There are a couple if reasons why you can't pay cash at the turnstile.
First and most importantly it costs the club more money to insure against it.
Second it reduces the risk of fraud/theft by the turnstile operator, unfortunately no matter what your moral code is there will always be people who steal.
Thirdly it reduces the cost through wastage of preprinted tickets, you can't allow unreserved seating in an area which has allocated seats to season ticket holders.

Glenn tks for replying on behalf of the club.
Im sure you recognize shortcomings in text on line which is really not very helpful as far as the uncommitted and irregular customer is concerned.
I want to make it crystal clear to the new or returning customer that he is welcome and it is easy to buy tickets .
I need to see more promotion on the website which points this uncommitted customer to either the ticket office or the website.
Make it sound easy to get the correct info to enable him make a positive decision to buy a ticket for the next game or even the next but one game.
As I have said before every empty seat at every home match is a missed revenue opportunity

Or the "flea pit" as the young ones Saturday mornings were refered to at the old Roxy cinema down Barkerend Road.

I’ve never ever queued at the turnstile to get into VP.
Too many people on this thread making a mountain out of a molehill.
In almost every entertainment venue I can think of, if you turn up without a ticket you are likely to have to queue for one.

It’s very rare to see cash turnstiles in operation in higher divisions, I’m not sure why it’s such a surprise to the OP especially when such a high proportion of our home capacity is taken up by ST holders.

If we go back a decade when we only had 5,000 season ticket holders it’s perfectly reasonable to offer cash turnstiles when such a large percentage of the stadium is empty.

I don't think the OP is saying there should be a cash turnstyles. I think he is saying it isn't immediately clear from the website what you should do instead. From Glenn's post above I believe this has now been addressed. Hopefully we can now expect an extra couple of thousand walk-ups next home game :)

To know those sort of things you must be of a similar age, ye back in the day you got money back for taking the bottle back to the local shop that had a alcohol licence, then when your pocket money ran out you nipped over the shops back wall and borrowed a couple of bottles.
Angels with dirty faces had nowt on our gang :).

I think the OP has a valid point. Get the turnstiles sorted out once and for all. You should be able to buy a ticket on your phone as you walk up Midland Rd, scan a QR code or whatever and get in to watch. The casual supporter, by definition, is not someone that is likely to know or want to negotiate the hurdles that are put in their way. Make it simple.

The club haven't managed to introduce turnstiles that will scan season tickets yet, even though it has been discussed for the past ten years and now you are suggesting online ticket sales that produce a QR code that can be scanned at the turnstile. May as well just go the whole hog and go for a Champions League final win

Please show me on the Vue website the section where it clearly says what you must do if you walk in to see a movie on the spur of the moment without buying in advance???
I doubt there is such a section.
In fact I think it’s fair to say it’s fecking obvious what you should do.

There are some who would wish to barter/trade two chickens and a marrow with the club, never mind all this fancy Dan stuff.

Bronco and a fair few others will be wondering how on earth you have such a long cable on your phone!;)

I've no idea what you do if you just walk into the Vue cinema (or flicks, or pictures), but I imagine you just go to the desk and pay. It only has one entrance. But what happens at the Vue doesn't really have any bearing. I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest that City make our arrangements clearer on the website

What a lot of fuss about a casual supporter not knowing what to do. I concede the club need to make it clearer on the website as it is in the club’s interest to do that. However the majority of ppl who wake up on a Saturday morning and decide to go to the footie would firstly go to the ticket office or ring up, or just turn up and ask. Why have a pop at the club? I would consider it my responsibility to organise my own entertainment and not expect every organisation to cater to my disorganisation.
