I agree with you that survival wasn’t the pre-season aim. But it has become the first aim now. McCall has rightly paid the price for the poor summer recruitment. We never looked like hitting the playoffs did we.

Based on the last four performances there is little chance we will go down but if Novak gets injured all of a sudden we’re in trouble so its imperative we recruit next month.

 

Agree perhalps it could have been worded better, if Turnbull is working behind the scenes I dont understand why it's not been officially announced.
As T&S are the two people in charge interim or otherwise I would expect them to have input into players joining Bradford City .
I suggested they stayed in charge until the Tranmere game and I'm still happy to have them in charge for the next 2 games, it looks like Ryan is more than happy with them both on the field and how they have turned our resent performances around getting 10 points from a possible 12, Ryan will see the effort these two are putting in off the field.
Watt alluding to getting video clips etc on a Friday night I would assume that goes for most opposition players ie Novak has clips with regards central defender are weak in this area.
They have earned their chance and good luck to them both my worry was always bringing a new guy in and results started to reverse, this way if we start to fall away then we advertise again and they know this.
For me it's the correct call if these lads can't continue and we have a lower half finish it gives them chance to return to coaching the youth squad and another candidate is identified and he has the closed season to bring his players in.
Let's hope T&S are still in their managerial positions come the end of the season as that would imply they have been a sucsess which I believe we all want.

 

Do we need to recruit well in January. Get us to the end of the season. Blood youngsters, comfortable safety. A lot better proposition to sign players at better value for money. Not exciting i know but January notoriously bad to recruit

 

I am a firm believer in xG and we have been underperforming on that all season. Even with this shit group we aren’t one of the two worst teams in this division, though the players did lose faith in McCall and he deserved to go. The sudden upturn in fortunes isn’t a huge surprise. We do need stronger back up but we won’t go down now. We may have, had McCall stayed

 

Even if an announcement was made you would still say its not true.

Its quite funny to see how many negative posters there are today despite the "current" management team breaking records like there is no tomorrow.

I am actually really excited to watch tomorrows game- got that buzz back. Young management team, experienced recruitment team, players playing for the shirt and each other.

I take that point but we don't know whether the opportunity has been wasted though beacsue we don't really know if could we actually get the manager we wanted - if the answere is yes we could then your right but it'd be madness not to have pulled the trigger on it but tgat makes me think we couldn't. If not then he's doing the right thing but for common courtesys sake he can't just come out in the press and say all the managers have been crap we don't want them.

You can't build a squad in Jan it'll be loans or short term deals.

You never know it might go well under T&S try a bit of positivity pal the players are buying into it which is improving performances and results and Conors dad has played at at a very high level and will be well connected in the game in his role at Wolves and I'm sure hell be helping them too.

 

It's about sound judgement and and decisions made in light of the evidence before him.On this occasion I don't see any reason to rock the boat when we are seeing signs of improvement.

 

Give them an 18 month contract then. Build for the future.

Yeah the wording of the statement is my only issue so far since Stuart went, I think everything else has been done pretty much 100% spot on for me. Turnbull announced, a semblance of a proper structure behind the scenes taking shape and some exciting young coaches getting a well deserved chance to push both the club and themselves forward. First time in a long time I've allowed myself to be a little bit excited for the club's future!

Great post. What players would not want to play under T&S? Their start so far shows them as forward thinking modern managers who seem to be able to get the best out of their players. If I was an agent I would be looking to get my player down to VP and get involved in this particular chapter at City.

Like me you have no idea what is going on behind the scenes. You can continue to make up things as you go along as you normally do.

Wow ! What a total discord of opinion.

1) Downside to this "trial" period for T&S.
Unknowns in the general football world
and recruiting new players who don't know
who they are could be a problem. However,
if Turnbull is as good as his reputation on
recruitment, players will come to a "big" club
especially if results continue.

2) Some forget the disbelief on giving McCall a
contract extension then sacking him. This
"trial" period for T&S ensures we don't commit
before they have more time to see if this improvement
continues. If it doesn't then they can revert back
to the youth team and we go again. Yes, more
upheaval but giving them a contract at this early
stage could backfire if the wheels come off. That
would not represent "long term" planning it would
be a knee jerk reaction to a short improvement.

The players have taken to these two and hopefully
they will continue to improve, if they do then give
the job to T&S and lets move on and upwards!
