Have they though? They are there until further notice, which is like saying until we get someone else, until they start losing or until something else happens, such as a manager leaving his job somewhere else. It’s delaying making a decision on a permanent manager, a decision that will have to be taken at some point.
I’m pleased for T&S, I really am, they’ve done a good job so far, but the delay reeks of short termism, something which has crippled this club for years.
I notice the same people who were arguing for stability in not sacking McCall are now leaping for joy at another short term deal. You can’t have it both ways. The club gave McCall a new contract in part to give assurances to new signings in January and to reassure the current players the manager was going nowhere and they better buck up their ideas, now we have the opposite of that.
It’s all very confused thinking, poor communication or just bollocks to keep the fans happy until events play out elsewhere.

Well Sparks needs to stop sound biting then and say that because if its just about short term then say but he was talking about long term and having an identity blah blah.

I just read your post mate as Rupp doesn't care.. That's the problem here.

Can't wait for the end of January, once that damned expensive window is out of the way. That way we can't sign any more players and are free to announce a permanent manager.

Welcome to Bradford City, the place where everything is cheap.

It’s about getting it right for the future . If it takes a bit longer so be it as long as we get it right. Over the years we have rushed into appointments what good has that done us. Full marks for not being bounced into a decision

Yes Fordy Sparks should have rushed in and gave the job to Sol Campbell or Jonathan Woodgate.

Maybe rather than failed to make a decision he has actually made a good decsion, wasn't impressed with candidates to be honest. Time will tell. Interim title keeps them on their toes and pressure to keep improving things of they want the job.

It’s an essential appointment and the decision needs to be the right one. And this isn’t aimed at you personally, but I’ve always struggled to relate to people/opinions that seem to infer no action/decision as constituting no risk. In not making a decision, that IS a decision of sorts. There’s potential for a real downside and significant risk with this approach too. Don’t assume that the 4 games under T&S completely alleviate the challenge and risks we face in the coming weeks.

We won't. This "interim" appointment confirms it. We'll sign the odd loan player or take a young kid until the end of the season and come the summer we'll be trying to sign 8 or 9 players all over again.

    It's like groundhog day.

Good news, a decision at last.

TBH Hurst seemed a bit of mixed bag reading the Grimsby forum, strong team ethic and work mentality, but not the best football to watch and some dubious antics towards supporters.

if we have a new recruitment head, then imo there is no reason why we wont make decent permanent signings in Jan. we should be trying to sneak the playoffs and grind these positive results out with half a season to go.

Its not really a decision though is it ? Its an half arsed compromise. A decision would have have been Trueman & Sellars until the end of the season

For once I agree with you. Its a compromise, shirt termism. I have zero expectations that these two will be joint managers come 21/22 kick off. Why not hust give them it until June? This isn't a decision its just pushing the envelope down the road

The transfer window is the concern. If this was March and we were mid table I’d understand why they would be given the job until the end of the season if there is little to play for.

Announcing them as “interim” when we have a crucial transfer window is barmy. I’d support it if Sparkes said I’ve given them a 2.5 year deal and let them build a team properly, but he hasn’t. Any agent / player must be concerned that the club may change managers again in the next few months. Would a player want that uncertainty (unless a loan)?

I’m sorry but it just smells of Sparkes not knowing what do.

If we do hit a rough patch and we’re still with “interim managers” I’d like to see how the season tickets for next season will be advertised. Why is everything at City based on short term thinking? Maybe Rhodes is still involved?

The leaking tap is being fixed and will no longer be quoted, however, before the plumber comes round I’ll see if I can get one or two last drips of information.

If you want a rumour from another source, City enquired about Jack Diamond a few weeks ago at Sunderland coming in on loan in January. However both us and Sunderland have changed manager since then and he has been in and around the first team.

ha ha I know mate. Like I will lose sleep at night over if he or she likes me or not.

Calling me names like a child. Must be a 12 year old trying to man up. Using Lynx Africa for the first time on his sweaty armpits.. Spraying it on his body saying I am the man I will call Fordy a tool today and be well hard. It's going to shock him that and he will lose sleep over it.

    Mum, mum wipe my bum!
