Thanks, I wish I hadn't asked. Seem to think they had a very poor start.

 

It’s only a fortnight a go that we wondered where the next point was coming from. Of course we want to win as many as we can and move up the table but the first thing is to improve the players we have and are going to sign to make sure we are up there next year

 

Many including myself knew the players were better than what they were showing but for whatever reason under McCall they didn't perform. New ideas have come in and the players seem to look more like what he expected so I ask again why wait for next year Can we not be successful this season still?

 

There's still a lack of attacking quality and any sort of depth to most positions. An injury to Novak would be hugely problematic, as would an injury to either O'connor. These players have still performed poorly in City shirts far more often that they've performed well. We need major rework to be capable of going up.

 

Which is why i posted on the what we need thread in that we need 4 quality signings in jan.

 

Very mixed views on Fishy Forum from Grimsby fans on the prospect of Hurst returning there.

Most say it would be a steady but underwhelming appointment. They say his football is boring to watch, doesn't like playing the youngsters. Someone says his assistant Doig is a bully.

Hurst now strong favourite to get the Grimsby gig, hope he gets it to be honest. The more I read about him and study his failures at Ipswich and Scunny, the less appealing he becomes.

He sounds too similar to Bowyer for my liking

 

According to the T and A he was in attendance at the Morecambe v Grimsby game.
The Fishy forum generally suggest he's far from popular after a certain ear cupping incident towards the fans at Wembley and it appears they haven't forgot in numbers.

 

He'd be right to weigh up his options if we're still unsure. Could use the situation to get a few extra quid squeezed out of whoever he chooses.

 

I'm sure his agent will be pressing for that.
Let's see if he turns up tomorrow night
Stand spotting will be easy with all the empty seats.
My opinion is Hurst has not got the job.

Seriously though, I think Hurst would already have been announced by us now if he was coming here. The leaking tap rumours last week appear to have been incorrect

 

You can't please all the people all the time.

If we announced Parky was returning there would be plenty on here moaning and groaning despite what he achieved first time around.

 

Reading between the lines Simon Parker's latest offering would suggest (Hint) to me Hurst is going to join Grimsby Town.
He knows more than he's letting on but for obvious reasons it's not gone to print yet, don't know why there's a deafening silence from our CEO it's very bizarre to say the least.

Until further notice, either commit to them or find someone you will commit to, great long term strategy... I’m guessing a few losses on the bounce and we’ll be holding interviews again.

 

That to me says they have definitely ruled out Hurst or anyone else that is currently available.

Interim, I presume, means carry on until probably at least the summer in that capacity, and hopefully beyond if all goes well?

 

They certainly deserve the chance. Their modern day approach to management is refreshing as is their humbleness and honesty. Good luck lads, I think the majority of fans are behind you (and no it's not a panto pun)....

 

That's the way I read it. You weren't getting the job but you can have it till the start losing.
