Plenty of effort, some neat and tidy play, just not enough threat

 

Very decent second half. However I’m starting to get bored of Cook’s constant show of frustration when it doesn’t go his way. I’d argue 90% of the squad have stepped up and in some way improved since Hughes came in. However Cook is seeming to offer less and less each game. Rest of the squad look fitter, he looks knackered each game.

Hendrie’s decent cross at the end of the game was a good one and he was nowhere to be seen - not good enough for a player that is supposed to feed off that service.

 

Newport were far worse, we were the better team just not the quality in front of goal. Newport offered very little, the fact they’re near the top is just another source of frustration.

 

Reads like the better performances under Hughes are continuing. I actually watched last weeks game and thought we were second best for most of the game, this seems like it was a better performance though. I have no idea what Hughes has in mind for next season but I am optimistic that having improved the performances from this team, a few sound signings will see a different outcome.

 

Decent play just lacking up front defence has been better since we’ve taken control of the ball more.

Newport we’re dreadful they got what they came for though.

 

Shows how bad this league is if Newport are joint fourth.
