This wouldn't surprise me but I thought Donaldson and Vaughan as a two were more effective on Tuesday than when there were 3 of them. Daft as it sounds.

I think Donaldson is less effective when he has to play wider. Obviously in a two he may go to one side or another but in a three he is always at one side.

 

I agree but Bowyer seems to like his 4-3-3 but I agree, Wood's crossing seems to have been our best weapon so far.

 

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Gibson back on Saturday .

Forest green have been playing 3-4-3 so if we stick with 4-4-2 we won’t see much of the ball so I wouldn’t be surprised to see a midfield of Gibson Palmer and Cooke or possibly Devine if Cooke isn’t ready and possibly McCarten Donaldson and Vaughan upfront

A few points on the board and everyones whacking off with gay abandon. Players like Cooke have been brought in to address a lack of creativity within the side. Make no bones about it, one of the front two get injured and we are shit creek. Thats why we have to have a plan b when this situation arises.

 

I don’t disagree with anyone. But don’t think Bowyer has been happy with our performances in the last 2 games playing 4-4-2 despite winning, I think he’ll want an extra man in midfield. Plus that Wyscout what a lot of clubs use says Cooke is better in a midfield 3, as are our other midfielders as they get dominated in a 2.

But we’ll see.

 

Donaldson is okay in the air, but not better than Vaughan - he seems to prefer the ball to his feet, where he can either take on his man or lay the ball off to someone else.

I don't see why there is a misconception that he has to play central?

Having said that, he wasn't playing out wide for the first two games, it was a front two with Doyle behind. The only time I believe he's drifted out wide for a while was against Oldham at home, and from that position he actually created a goal for Scannell.

 

We've had genuine width for the last two games and won them both. If GB reverts to a 4 3 3 again he'd better make sure we're still picking up the points or he'll get pelters from the fans.

If Cooke seriously can't play in a midfield 2 then it's a bizarre signing. One loan player dictating the whole set up of the team? Im not sure I'm buying it.

 

Watched highlights from forest green at port vale . Vale caused them problems every time they put a cross in . Vale should have scored at least 4 missed some sitters so stick with wide men for me .

 

Well that would be a step backwards. He’s not good enough.

 

We did until Henley went off at Stevenage then he switched to 4-3-3 and Donaldson played wider and the midfield was pretty ineffective. From what I saw on Tuesday Devine, Akpan and Palmer are not an effective midfield 3. If he wants to play 4-3-3 he needs new players.
