It was me who copied and pasted the colour chart which described one colour as ‘fire’! Hands up! I still think the colour is a good approximation to what I consider to be amber.

You have to be very careful about the use of language, to avoid offending people.

However here is a report on the City website from an old game, ‘Sub Jordy Hiwula had a chance to fire City in front late on after a forceful drive into the box but his effort was held at the second attempt by Archer’. https://www.bradfordcityfc.co.uk/news/2017/january/bradford-city-1-millwall-12/

    My use of bold/underline.

Personally I think it was an appropriate use of the word, which had been used by a commercial company, to describe a product.

The club didn't choose it, it was a completely unrelated colour chart used to describe the colour of the seat after it had been questioned. From the chart "fire" in the posters opinion was the closest match to the colour of the seat and looking at the chart it clearly is a very close match. (oops, should I refrain from using the word match?)

How exactly would you have liked him to "word it better"? Perhaps giving the RGB code so no one had a clue what he was on about?

The fire happened, everyone has their own way of dealing with it but if you're wanting to invent offense and faux outrage about loosely connected words in posts then I'd politely suggest they won't be coming from Dubois or any other regular user of the forum.

About time we had half decent dugouts, they've been an embarrassment for years. Fair play to Sparks for getting shit done.

Of the colours in Rod's chart, I too think that "Gold" and "Fire" are the closest to what I'd think of as amber. Their "Amber" seems to me a touch too yellow!

As for the other point that has arisen:

    1) For obvious reasons we do need to be careful about using fire words and imagery in connexion with City;
    2) But in the broader world, though we might die from fire we certainly cannot live without it.
    3) No wonder that fire imagery is deeply ingrained in our patterns of thought and speech, in both good and bad senses. We use it automatically. Think of our language of love for example, or even how we are aflame with enthusiasm for something...
    4) But using that imagery in our context is, to put it mildly, problematic. Just imagine some enthusiastic reporter writing that City were on fire as they torched Tonbridge 7-0, language which for any other club wouldn't raise an eyebrow. But with us, especially if the match had been at VP... I would hope an editor would make some changes. Similarly, should the question ever arise, I wouldn't be comfortable with the name "Fire" for a colour used at VP. No fault of the company's; it's just our circumstances are different.

Overall, I'd like to see us save our criticisms for genuinely malicious or supremely insensitive uses of fire words and imagery in connexion with City. This, in my opinion, is not such a case.

Out of genuine interest which other league 2 clubs do you know of that publicly announce full details of all their sponsorship deals? Or any league club for that matter?

    Is it...
    A. A new tunnel for the players?
    Or...
    B. A tunnel for the new players?

    Hope it's the latter.

I”ll be ‘positive’ (woohoo) and sometimes i wont (booo) i am not a politician i can tell it how i see it.

Credit is given where due not just for mediocrity. Why is it negative to say we got a bit lucky? Why is it negative to say our defending was shocking? Whats wrong with a bit of realism.

Championing mediocrity and pulling the perceived negatives out of posters comments and feeling you have to post the opposite. There YOU go again.

Let it go Rodders. You were in the wrong and you've had your telling off, just leave it there and promise to be more positive in the future.

Reckon you’d have to careful closing the gates. Bang them too hard and I think the tunnel will fall down.
My lads make dens with duvets and cushions that look more structurally sound than the tunnel.

Of course it’s about money, this season more than ever. The seats and tunnel are probably paid for by the sponsorship and flogging old kit on eBay. For almost all lower league clubs this season is about surviving with little or no real income. The PL don’t really miss the gate receipts, we do.

Stuart hasn’t spent all the salary cap and the story allegedly goes Rupp was willing to put more money in in the summer but was supposedly told it wasn’t necessary.

Yes there’s no future vision, we all know that, many of us think there won’t be until Rhodes goes but a few hundred seats and a tunnel isn’t worth getting your knickers in twist over. The club are shouting about it because people have sponsored them to shout about it. Sparks seems to be doing what he’s paid to, bring money in, it would be a brave or foolish man to put him in charge of the club in really difficult times like these and I don’t see Rupp doing that.

When this season finishes the big earners and the dross are gone, Rhodes, possibly the manager too. You can’t compare Liverpool to City.
Off the the field City need to get the support in for the first team, but Sparks and Watson aren’t responsible for that and seem to be doing ok, you can’t knock them for that.
