A bit unlike your usual factual or constructive post there, Rod. I didn't realise you'd joined the Fordy Carping Club!
Let me assist by reference to the posted picture by Bronco. There has been some preparatory work carried out during the shut down. First the area of light colour between the tunnel and pitch was installed in resin finish, organised and executed by my fellow Associate Director Simon Hartley and his associated company. This paving gives a solid and hard wearing base for the tunnel to run on and stops wear on the pitch perimeter.
Second the area between the edge of the resin and a margin to the pitch has been resurfaced with artificial grass, it is slightly darker on the picture. The result of these two pieces of work is elimination of the churning of the playing surface.
Turning to the tunnel itself, work only started on Tuesday, a short day due to the evening game, and finished Friday to clear up for yesterday. Of course there is work to do, anyone with any sense would see this is not the finished article but considering staff have been at the absolute minimum a lot has been achieved, especially by Ryan Sparks on the sponsorship front. Money has also been spent elsewhere, the playing surface is in great condition, partly due to the rest over the summer allowing the grass to root deeper, but also to the fertilizer programme being changed There is hardly any wear.
Ryan has secured additional sponsorship for the new dugouts which we have to provide. These will be in place next month, awaiting the seats in BCFC colours. We have a new kit van, both of these elements courtesy of JCT.
Work is progressing elsewhere but you and Fordy with his negative blinkers on have failed to notice, shame on you. The picture Bronco posted shows the first block of replacement seats (nearest the camera) in place and complete, more to come finance planning allowing.
Do I hear a "well done Ryan and team"?, thought not but it won't stop the work.

As the author of the comment in question let me clarify. I was answering Bigrod who had stated that the colours on the chart named Gold and Fire were the ones that in his opinion most closely resembled his conception of amber. I agreed and said that I preferred Fire. It was as simple as that.
To suggest that this was in any way insensitive is ridiculous, but sadly in keeping with a modern trend to find a reason to be outraged by any innocent comment.RCarol, Bantam Begins, Bantam Boy and 11 others like this. -

1 - It was a question as I don't pretend that everyone else sees things the same way as me
2 - I noted that it wasn't important. I agree that replacing them was important and that part was unsaid by me but, I'd hoped, implied.
3 - Why so touchy? Surely feedback on aesthetical things is expected and, indeed, needed before pressing ahead with such projects? In my working life, for example, I've never seen a piece of marketing that wasn't signed-off first by several people. We have a brand and heritage at City and a big part of that is our club colours.
That's my take on things anyway. Well done to those involved in the club at not only keeping the plates spinning but growing the off-field commercial activities during this time.FrenchBantam, Tolly856, Inspector and 5 others like this. -

All we're asking for is a little communication to help us feel less disconnected to the club. Especially given the difficult circumstances at present and especially if its positive work by the club such as the ground improvements mentioned above.
After all, don't we employ a director of communications? And if that is the role perhaps better communicating could help to start rebuild the fragile confidence a lot of fans have with the board right now. If so then that can only be viewed as a positive given that we'll soon be thinking about advertising ST renewals.Tolly856, Inspector, Campbell's soup and 4 others like this. -

I am not privy to the detail that you are.
You can’t really make out the resin.
The picture was not clear enough to pick out the artificial grass.
As for the comments about the new dug outs, then they haven’t been erected on the side of the pitch, I have made no comment about them, how could I. Zero criticism from me.
I agree with you that the surface of the pitch looks very good. We have had a fair amount of rain, yet not much frost, so lets hope it continues. Zero criticism from me.
I struggle to get why there should be ‘shame’ on me. I made a comment about a picture and based on that, made an observation, as to its appearance. I wait to see more detail of the tunnel!
You moved the topic on from a remark about the tunnel, to cover a lot of developments, things I hadn’t even commented on and then you criticised me.
For the avoidance of doubt, then in theory I applaud those developments, which I have yet to see.Tolly856, Welshbantam, Faithful Bantam and 3 others like this. -

Re Sparks, securing sponsorship is his job and that’s why he gets a salary.

The little run you are talking about includes beating the worst team in the football league, a team from national league south, and a lucky draw against an average league 2 side hardly anything to be writing home about
Yes I would be pleased if one or two of our young players became useful to us the sad fact is if they did they would be sold at the first opportunity and the money not reinvested in the team
The commercial team you laud are just doing the job they are paid to do nothing more nothing less unless I have missed a whole load of new sponsors coming on board ??Biker, Rogered Tart, Faithful Bantam and 1 other person like this.
