    Fair enough.

Using your example, Adams was appointed with a good reputation having gained promotion with other clubs and with a reputation of doing that on smallish budgets. The ideal appointment! He failed at VP despite his past achievements because his approach didn't fit well with our club. Those cultural and 'soft' issues which are part and parcel of management can't have been part of the decision making. He was a poor appointment for us.

The appointment of Trueman and Sellars with little if any league experience between them was simply a gamble; a brave gamble but not one which should not have been taken by a club who had aspirations of promotion. It was a gamble which failed after a relatively short time.

So far as Hughes is concerned, yes we should have gained one of the auto spots. Do I blame the referees for that not happening? No. It was our inability to get the best out of our squad which was responsible whether that was team selection, some of our questionable tactics, our preparation, our game management etc. We were fortunate in having the league's leading scorer in the squad which masked some of the other shortcomings. We flattered to deceive at times. Blaming the refs is just a cop out.

I recall Sparks saying quite publicly that not getting promotion would be regarded as failure. Hughes also said towards the end of the season that promotion was 'our intention' (his expression). It's self evident that we failed and that Hughes' intention wasn't fulfilled. I have yet to see anything from an organisational or strategic perspective which addresses those shortcomings despite our improvements on the commercial side of the business.

Is it your view that we should now continue on in the same vein or are changes required if we are to get out of this league?

Alternatively maybe you could have a word with Sparks? It would help enormously if the CEO could come out and express his concerns and annoyance publicly and how the club will address the mediocre performances which he has claimed previously he doesn't accept.

There were quite a few of us who questioned the appointment of Adams and wether he was the right fit for us. Turned out to be a shambles from all concerned. As for Hughes wasn't it more a case of him firing off prospective emails and it ending up in a junk file or summat? Not even sure we were actively looking to go down that route and it was more of he couldn't get a job elsewhere? We've gone from a policy of management in full control of everything to a manager and a recruitment team yet the recruitment still seems off target.

He has said we wont accept mediocre (and yesterday was worse than that) so we will see if your inside knowledge of him has some substance. We were totally abysmal and Hughes doesn't seem to have a clue - if Ryan was as angry as you say some action or communication with the fans is more than necessary

Hope he walks in the next 24 hours or Ryan shows us how angry he was yesterday (according to Wetherby) and takes bold action himself

I don't see him walking just yet. Reckon they'll give Hughes some time to turn it around also. But another performance like yesterday in the next 5 or 6 could see him go. Said in another thread, but if we go 1 down next Saturday, there's a good chance of a Hughes out chant happening.

The transfer windows not over yet , Id rather the wobble happened now so hopefully we can do something about it

For me he gets to the 15 games mark and we see how things are coming along

A couple of key loan signings may just do the trick

I'd be inclined to go with this. Loan players have had a large influence on our success over the years and could well make the difference. That said, another calamity like yesterday and fans patience will wear out. We made a very average side in Morecambe look like world beaters and there were so many fundamental things wrong. Needs to be a massive improvement next Saturday.

He dropped his pants in front of a City female employee. Should be nowhere near this club. He’s in league one so why would he drop to

I saw 11 players and a manager who had their pants down yesterday, in a far more public setting.

    Get him in.

Whilst i wouldn’t stop going if Evans was appointed I’d be very disappointed in the club, nothing to do with his past but more to do with any lack of strategy at the club. He’s another type of manager to Hughes and plays a totally different style of play, the change would be similar if going from Adams to Hughes. We need to hire someone who plays possession based football for continuity, I’d think of going for a top academy coach similar to what Forest Green did with Rob Edwards. Someone who’s actually hungry to forge a career in the game. It’s time the club showed they actually have a plan and not just see which name makes them wide eyed when the applications come in.

Plus there is no evidence Evans could get the best out of this team, he traditionally likes to sign about 10-15 players when he signs and he wouldn’t have that option here. He would want his players to play high energy and run through walls for him, this team haven’t proved they are capable of anything other than walking football.

For me that only works if we still have belief in Hughes and his ability to somehow come up with a plan we can stick with and fit the players in. His tactics, recruitment etc cry out that he and his management team are not up to it, muddled in thought and process.
I just can't see him stringing the run you describe together and there seems to be an inevitability to me where this is heading

That's all a fair point. I do think Evans would be fine if he came in now and were backed with a couple of loan signings, but my first choice would be Richie Wellens.

Truman and Sellars had just taken 35 points from 15 games. Hardly a gamble that shouldn’t have been taken, at the time they couldn’t stop winning. Sparks did the right thing giving them an 18 month contract they deserved it .

Hate these referees who make us pass round at the back till we lose the ball and concede
They even make us defend on our own goal line after we scored
They stop us playing another striker alongside Cook
But what I find most unacceptable is after drawing level at Carlisle when we had a glimmer of hope they take off our best attacking option
    Pfffft who needs em

I wanted Wellens when Adams was sacked. However, cannot see him leaving Orient now if a vacancy was to arise here anytine soon

So, all capable managers who've just failed whilst here? Any ideas why that might be? The idea that we fell short last season because of referees is laughable and if that's the sentiment at the club, it's no wonder we fail continuously.

Hughes will struggle to get a job elsewhere unless he turns this around, and quickly.

I'd be very keen to know, who is it that's responsible for setting the football strategy and playing ethos at the club.

If its the manager, that's wrong. It shouldn't be - they should be hired to deliver against that strategy.

If its the CEO, I worry, because he's done nothing to demonstrate capability or sound decision making on football matters.

And if its the owner, I'm scared, because the guy is absent.

All our problems and continuous ham fisted attempts to get out of this league stem from there. Even our 'golden period' under Parky came because we fell lucky and landed on a manager who set that course, but its not the sustainable way of doing things.
