Then it becomes a self full filled philosophy and a vicious spiral. Reading some on here and there are a few very lonely suspects want failure just so they can prove themselves to be “right” in their peers eyes.
You and I know them . They chuck in a sentence , very rarely two and stand back and wait for a response. Then it’s picked up by the not to smart and all of a sudden it’s fact and gains traction and it’s the self fulfilling outcome some want. To whose benefit other than their own simple minds?

No, I wasn't and I'm not one of the people calling for him to be sacked - yet. The point is that Sparks is no more qualified than you or I to make footballing decions for Bradford City. He's very good on the commercial side and credit to him for all he's achieved on that front, but an experienced footballing head he is not. That isn't a criticism, it's just fact.

 

As I said in my earlier post appointing a manager is not an exact science. Hence why so many are sacked in a given season. Sparks is no better or worse than any of the so called experts who call themselves directors of football. In the end it’s a result driven business and if Hughes team had bothered to turn up at Morecambe this weeks attacks on Sparks wouldn’t have happened. You could bring in Paul Jewell as director of football and they’d be no more guarantee of getting a successful manager.

 

Spot on if a director of football had turned down Hughes and reported to the CEO he would have had his marching orders. Listening to sparks he is now well connected in football he is well capable in asking for advice. A DOF is just another salary to find and not needed at this level

 

A competent DoF would not (imo) have given the green light for some of the signings Sparks has okayed.

 

Ah so you are saying he should involve himself with player selection

Rephrase should he involve himself in player incomings other that affordability

 

Sadly this site has now slipped into a catalogue of comments where the author is trying to trip other contributers up and take a slightly superior stance.
I still would prefer Hughes was replaced as there are just too many failings in my eyes but I do respect the majority want him to stay, be that for at least another half dozen games or until the end of the season and his current contract.
I am very disappointed with so much about City at present as I really felt this might be the coaching and recruitment team to take us forward, think thats why I am so underwhelmed by them.
Going to haave a break on here as my views on Hughes wont change, hope I am proved so wrong and we go on an insane winning run!

Sparks provides the cash in the sense of Okaying the deal so what other involvement does he have? You aren’t suggesting player capability are you P?

 

Name another L1/2 CEO that has football qualifications. I doubt you can. So what would you suggest ?

 

Player recruitment is one of the primary jobs of a dof

 

So let me get this right….the DOF brings in 6 players that the manager knows nothing about and just expects him to work with what he’s been given?
I know it’s common these days, especially in the PL but I just don’t see how it works harmoniously.

 

As I said in one of my previous posts, I find it bizarre that Sparks would hire a commercial director but not a footballing director. Maybe that's why the commercial side of the business is thriving and the footballing side is so shit.

 

So there you have it the perfect recipe for conflict and exactly why we don’t want another level of management
