Since January of the season to completion, Bolton were head and shoulders the best team in league two.

If we want to virtually assure ourselves of promotion, then Bolton are the blueprint.

But, our budget (1.8m is the figure I’ve heard mentioned???) will dictate that we can’t copy that.

Very early days in the squad rebuild, however from the names bantered about of the potential targets, it seems Spark’s is looking to use Morecambe’s template.

Hence his efforts in acquiring Adam’s services

Optimism always overflows in August for every fan, but don’t be under any illusions that top three will be sealed and delivered. I’ve little doubt we’ll be in the top third of the division throughout the pending season. But league one status may well have to come via Wembley.

The hope in all this is can Adam’s deliver a little more with us, on a better budget than what he was working to at the Globe arena.

Maybe Adam’s can only excel his talents fishing in the small pool, scrimping, scraping and cutting corners.

Handed a platter containing a modest budget for polished league two players, may not be his forte.

Evidence of his time at Plymouth suggests it is within his remit, however once they had to move forward for another push to the championship, his successful machine appeared governed, then fell away to a relegation scrap.

Ha ha. I just love these holier than thous. Adams decision to come to us would be completely understood by every other manager in the game.

Although he’s a four Scot I really do like what Adams has to say. No sound bites or playing us down. Has clear expectations of promotion and knows the club should demand to play at a higher level. Interesting to see the 3 new players signed not yet announced, too see what positions the remaining 4 we’ll be in for.

 

I can't understand why some on here describe Derek Adams as "dour"
He strikes me as the most articulate manager we have had for some time.
He is a focused individual who expects the same standards from his players.
I reckon that next season the City team will score more than the pathetic return of 2 goals from corner kicks in 2019/20 and 2020/21.

The issues with signing Adams could be seen from miles off.

You know what, if he hasn't blamed and sold Canavan, he'd still have my support, so I stick by every single word.

He's certainly had the support

 

His managerial record is there for all to see which makes our present displays hard to explain

 

Its very easy to explain really he hasn't a plan b other than get in front and defend for your lives
Most of our points were gained early season before other teams sussed us out and realised stop Cook and you won't concede many
The players are capable of winning matches but are held back by our negative one trick pony
It really is that simple
Reputations count for nothing unless you maintain them !!!!
