If he is indeed Hopkins choice it would prove beyond doubt in my eyes that the hated one no longer believes his vision is achievable here in Yorkshire and lays in tatters,thus leaving it up to those who truly understand the English game of football, reluctantly I might add.

 

Watch me get proved wrong but not sure why a manager who did a cracking job at Barnsley and then joined the Leeds shenanigans, would then take up a number 2 roll? All he needs to do is wait another month and managers will be sacked in prep for the transfer window

 

I'd be more than surprised if Heckingbottom was appointed as a full time, permanent second in command. Perhaps until the end of the season or until a job he fancies arises is more realistic. He may have been at VP yesterday as a scout for one of City's or Oxford's upcoming opponents?

What worries me about Hopkin is his lack of experience and recent knowledge of players in English lower league football. When Steve Parkin was appointed as Parkinson's assistant, it was a very astute move. PP had been out of the game for a while and SP's knowledge of the type of players City needed was supposedly encyclopaedic. Hopkin could do with someone similar to SP coming aboard.

Yes, but it's not difficult to see that the current team lacks both experience and grit. If/when the Rahic model is no more and it's not just free agents that he can sign, he's going to need to know League 1/2 players that can at least keep us in this division or try and get out of the league below.

He's never managed in England before and will need someone who knows who he can sign who'll come in and 'do a job'. Especially now that there's no Greg Abbott doing that kind of job (without making a judgement on if he did a decent job or not) at the club.

It took Abbott and Rahic 16 signings and 8 weeks and they still didn’t get experience in. Hopkin has done it with his first 3

 

Yes, you have definitely got a point. I feel a bit sorry for Abbott, I think the Henry signing in particular shows that the players that Rahic would sanction may not have always been the ones that GA suggested. In that I think he probably knew that the current squad lacked experience, but he wouldn't be allowed to sign experienced players because of their lack of any resale value using Rahic's blinkered model.

 

Scotland isn’t the other end of the world. Often see lower division players move in both directions between the leagues. I’m not sure therefore it will be a complete mystery. We might pick up the odd gem. For example Villa weren’t enthused by John mcghinn but he’s been their best player by far

that Rahic officially left the club yesterday relinquishing he role as CEO. However will be announced today as first team coach.

 

His name was in the frame according to the press lads, now as you say whether he got an inteview or not we dont know, I think the comment at the time was he was in no rush to get a job, but if he did put in for the managers job during the closed season I can't see him coming here as a number 2 to Hopkin.
He certainly has a good knowledge of this league and how to go about getting out of it.
