Don't know who I'd want tbh, part of me just thinks the most qualified. But the fans need galvanising and I include myself in that of course, so a name we all love could be the best way to do this. Gary Jones might not be the most qualified candidate, but City fans would back him regardless and it'd add a positive mood around the place imo.

Bringing back popular players doesn’t often work as we have proof of. Hopkin needs to bring his own people in who share his philosophy

We need experience. If we get that Gary jones in as another coach wouldn’t go amiss but not only him. Hopkin needs help

I remember Parky saying something along the lines of "the door would always be open" if Jones wanted to return in a coaching capacity.
It would be a good PR move if nothing else. Could work if he came in as an understudy to a more experienced No2, or he was bought in as a youth/ reserve coach initially.
My gut feeling is that Hopkin will go with someone he knows and trusts, so more than likely another tough talking jock.

    Not for me.

I like Jones but Hopkin needs experience and someone the people will respect.

    Someone that's top level.

We can't afford to do things on the cheap anymore.

    Gary Jones own words:-

“I’m working in care now, in mental health. I had a friend who has worked there for many years, and he said, why don’t you have a look into doing it? I’ve done all my training. I’m three months into it and I absolutely love it. I see some similarities with football: every day is different. It’s a challenge. You challenge yourself. I really enjoy it.”

Does he think he will ever come back to Bradford – for real? In a coaching capacity, maybe? “I don’t think so,” he begins. “Not in the short-term, anyway. I’m onto a new career and I’m thoroughly enjoying it”.

With all the emotional blackmail going on at the minute to get fans back , e.g. Rhodes coming back, then free travel and what have ya, It could well be Gary Jones.

Whilst I'm inclined to agree, the point is the relation ship between the club and fans needs to continue to mend, a popular figure would help with this and no doubt get the full backing of the fans. That said I can't see it been Jones.

Here are the relevant criteria for a coach:

    - Capable of working with Hopkin to improve Bradford City's performance

Doesn't have to be an ex-player, motivational speaker, loud, articulate, or anything else - he simply has to be a guy Hopskinsons can achieve results with.

Don't care if it's Jones, Wetherall, some Scottish guy I have never, ever heard of, don't care if he has a huge résumé or we're his first job, don't care, doesn't matter.

Hopkin will probably want someone who can understand jockspeak.

Can you imagine the uproar on here if he appoints a complete novice ?

Ideally they should have experience because they have to hit the ground running.

I don't really care if there is uproar about a coach. Head coach, sure, but coach? Not so much.

I imagine people might overreact - but even if it is an experienced guy, Steve Parkin and Kenny Black were hardly known quantities, at least to me, and they did fine.

I'm just saying, until we give it some time, the announcement really won't tell us much.

We already have Drury, so in my eyes he needs someone with vast experience.
