I don't think it's going to be Jones. He's got affinity with the club by way of the fans, but is nothing to Hopkin. As far as I know, Edin is still in charge of the club, and we know what his stance is about working with players/coaches that have more sway than he does.

If Hopkin is going to be taken seriously, and if he is going to have control over the management of the team, then the coach that comes should not be Jones, but someone Hopkin has chosen for his coaching, not because he's a - quote Radio Leeds - "former city midfielder and legend Gary Jones".

Does Jones even have any experience? Has he got his coaching badges?

As much as I like Jones, and as much as I like to hear what he's saying, and a lot makes sense (on t'wireless), I'm not sure the players need someone whose only inspiration is passionate stories of seasons past. We need someone who can whip these guys into shape technically, work on positioning and work on how to put the ball in one net, and stop the ball going into the other. And I'd prefer that is a guy who Hopkin has identified himself.

All this Jones talk was wishful thinking by a small number of fans who put it on Twitter and now suddenly it's taken as a serious possibility... just highlights the absurdity of social media.

All Hopkin said in his post-match interview was that he needed people in who were going to get a bit more out of the players. He mentioned getting players back from injury a bit quicker. He also said of this coach that he thinks the fans will be pleased with him. That could mean anyone whose got a bit of a proven track record, so I imagine it will be someone with experience at this level.

 

I read that as Stuart McCall is coming back - give it a few hours and it'll be the talk of 'soshul meeja' and the imbeciles that frequent it. (btw - is this place classed as social media?)

My view on this is that Hopkin should bring in a new coach who compliments his own approach to coaching and managing, now I really don’t care whether we know them or not, it is for DH to feel comfortable and supported, and for the players to feel that they are both singing from the same hymn sheet. I also think the Sports Science appointment is an excellent idea, some who understands not only the physical aspects of a professional sportsperson but also the psychological aspect of working under pressure.

There is a difference to refusing to pay what a player is asking and not been able to afford it.

 

Of course there is but we know from past experiances with the club they tend to not want to pay the going rate,
A couple of signings now could make all the difference to giving Hopkin a better chance to stave off relegation, besides what league 2 football would cost in lost revenue.

 

Maybe if fans didn't boycott matches they could afford them

 

Most will have already bought a season ticket they won't be losing revenue, they thought they could run a football club on the cheap, nows the time for Rupp to show he has learnt, very little to do with fans not attending.

 

Maybe if the current owners hadn't spunked, and I use that word advisedly, hundreds of thousands on a doomed approach we'd be better off. Can't blame the fans.

Put your rod away Park, ffs. You are targeting fellow City fans instead of the people who are actually regressing the club. Most have only started boycotting recently and after the window shut, where were the funds last January for McCall? Because we were getting our highest ever gates then, so fans can't be blamed for not being able to afford them then.
