City fans don't have it in them to protest like Coventry or Charlton.
majority don't have any ambition and are happy to stomach whatever shit sandwich is served up, just so long as it doesn't "risk the future of the club"

I think the only ones who can be mouth breathers are ones who don't have huge concerns over what's transpired over the last 24 hours, feels to me that Edin is firmly taking over every important decision at the club, and these pieces of news are the final piece of his jigsaw.
Doesn't mean every City fan won't want Collins to succeed though.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Tillo, River_City_Bantam, thebantamhaslanded and 3 others like this. -
Get a fan favorite as manager to smooth the takeover, sell all the best players, refuse to buy in Jan.
Then sack McCall, blame him for the recruitment failure and get a temporary manager in on a short term deal.
Make the new role of "Head Coach" pretend to interview, promote an in-house patsy, push Mason out and take effective control of everything yourself.
Is this plausible?Tillo, broadsword, bantam2708 and 3 others like this. -

I'm feeling emotionally bereft!
Hours in weeks I've spent in hope that some of the negative drivel would be proven wrong with a positive recruitment of a head coach.
ABSOLUTELY underwhelmed
However, I'm first and foremost a Bradford City fan therfore I wish the new coaching team ALL THE VERY BEST :thumbsup:dn14bantam, Botswana Bantam, broadsword and 3 others like this. -

Eddie Howe, Gerrard, Lampard had/have a structure around then that at least gives them a chance. We will find out quite quickly whether or not ER is as knowledgeable as he thinks he is, but you’re right Collins ability as a coach is impossible to know based on one season as a part time U18s coach. It’s a total punt to allow Rahic to do what he wants.CT Bantam, punk bantam, HUDDERSSBANTAM and 3 others like this. -

It's a new conversation when it is clear that same employee is risking the next step of their fairly short career on a 32 year old novice as their manager.
I hope the recruitment goes well and we start the season well but it's become more challenging for me. Edin's salary/bonus approach has already caused ructions amongst agents (even though some would say it's well intentioned), then there's the recent trading of blows with a journalist over the narrative of our story, so we're now adding a novice, young coach into the mix as well. It takes an agent with some balls to suggest that City is a winning pathway versus a more experienced coach/manager at a club that appears more stable than ours at present.vladimir, HUDDERSSBANTAM, CT Bantam and 3 others like this. -

It's the lack of coaching/managerial experience alongside a lack of top level managerial exposure. He said his biggest influence in management was Michael Appleton.
Michael. Appleton.
Jewell and Kamara were both assistant managers - surely even you'll agree that's a different kettle of fish from coaching 17 year olds on a part time basis for one year?Tillo, Bronco, The Original EB and 3 others like this. -
Wow, has coaching badges, talks a good game, comes across well, is confident and desperate to do well.
Is there a manager/coach in the league who does not meet that criteria? Should not that be our starting point?
He's been given the chance, I hope he succeeds and I will get behind him. I just hope he is allowed to coach and manage first team affairs as he sees it and I hope this difficult job does not harm his future prospects.Tillo, punk bantam, Bronco and 3 others like this. -

I think the problem us fans have at times is that we forget we're a League 1 side with limitations, we don't have 24 very good players like Premier League sides and have to work with 13-14 first teamers with maybe 6-8 season bench warmers who will only be bit part players and just cover injuries and suspensions.
If we trim the squad and move on players like Jones, Vincelot, NKP, possibly McCartan and like you say maybe loan out Patrick and Devine then I don't see the doom and gloom of some on here.Stop hovering to collapse... Given the amount of change we've had in the summer, and a brand new coach having his first ever stab at it, patience will be needed. But he needs to help himself - that system is a mess. It only works with the right players and I'd argue it only works with top quality players.
Defensively we were clueless - every time the ball went wide, their players had so much space it was laughable.
Fans CAN be patient if they see merit in what's being attempted, but that system was just a nonsense. And to have any home league game without a single shot on target, only 2 off target is simply unacceptable.
He needs a couple of stronger performances, quickly. And a simpler system. And a couple of quality loan additions.
There's potential in this side, but only if he deploys what we've got in the right way.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Craven Koppite, trevor, Petrov and 3 others like this. -
Doyle's best spell in League One came at Chesterfield when he had Gary Roberts, Jay O'Shea and Sam Clucas behind him in a 4-2-3-1, so he's capable of playing the role. The issue yesterday was that instead of building through midfield, where the lone striker will be well supported, we kept pinging it at his head with the midfield sitting deep and wondering why it he looked both isolated and ineffectual.
