No necessity to change it but I'm not against changing it if they come up with something good. You're right about the Juve badge, but Man City and Brentford changed traditional badges for better.

Tranmere's stands out to me as the worst thing I've ever seen on a football shirt.

Looks like a 5 year old has just been given free reign with a paint brush.

Just had a look at it, is that not the coat of arms for the area of Tranmere? Or am I looking at the wrong badge? I also remember the Beeston lot going absolutely insane about their new badge so much so they canned it after a week and reverted back.

If we put as much time into scouting as we do for campaign gimmicks we’d be in league 1, I’d probably wait until there’s more good feeling and will around the place before changing something that has been a big part of the identity of the club for the last 30 years.

    Think we won 2-1 m8.

You missed the last minute winner because you're not uber and didn't stay right until the end.

I loved that badge, it was the centre of lots of Mickey taking for a while. Its a shame it never made it into the shirts.

I know we had our time for a short glimpse. Unfortunately most of my mates are Beeston UTD fans so I’m the brunt of all jokes now because of our circus football club.

Had to leave early that day, didn’t want to get stuck in the queue did I?

I’ve actually left a match early only once in my life, Reading at home in the cup in 2015, I was a guest of the FA and we were going on to another game so had to get our skates on.

I understand that we all have differing levels of interest and commitment. But, personally I don't care about the club's crest, the colour, style, quality or manufacturer of the shirts. What type of beer is on sale or even if there's hot water in the toilets. All that matters to me is how the players perform individually and as a team, the entertainment factor for the 90 minutes, the result and how far up the football pyramid the club is placed.

There's probably between 6 and 8,000 world weary souls who'll watch City regardless of what division they're in. For the club to grow, it needs to attract other people and I expect they'll care about the peripherals even less than me. Get the club challenging at a decent level, playing both winning and attractive football and, IMHO, everything else will take care of itself. All that Sparks should be doing is trying his best to ensure that the manager gets what he asks for, planning for what happens in the transfer windows and longer term recruitment so that the club progresses on the field. All the other stuff can be taken care of when the club's in a far healthier position, both financially and in terms of league and position. I get the impression that all of these ideas are just Sparks creating work for himself because he's effectively hamstrung by Rupp pulling the financial plug and there's very little else he can do to help the club grow from day to day.

Whilst City are languishing as a mid table, bottom league team, all of this type of stuff is akin to the proverbial lipstick on a pig to me and I honestly couldn't care less about it.

Man City went back to close to their traditional badge, Brentfords just a lazy copy and paste round circle.

Its just marketing, something every successful business has in place. Why would the marketing team be able to do anything to help the team? and Sparks is the CEO he has to oversee all areas of the business.

Why are people so opposed to change or even the suggestion of it?

I don't think it's that people are opposed to change per se. What irks long time supporters is the juxtaposition of this 'brand refresh' with the never ending decline/stagnation in our league position and the apparent indifference of our deep pocketed/short armed owner.
All this marketing stuff just seems like irrelevant fluff compared to the real business of getting the club back to the level it was before Rupp took over, and preferably beyond that.
The way to grow the 'brand' is to fund the team properly, win football matches, climb the leagues and thereby attract more paying customers. A new badge means diddly squat compared to that.

Damned if they do and damned if they don’t. We had years of silence under Rhodes and Rahic with supporters complaining about a lack of strategy, forward planning and involvement. Now in Sparks we’ve gone the other way and folk are still complaining. How is the club supposed to move forward if they don’t canvas our thoughts? I agree some of the topics aren’t so important at this moment in time but they’re trying. I’d much rather a feeling of being a part of this club rather than the last regime who didn’t give a toss about match day experience for the supporters, neither being bothered about bringing the club into the 21st century.

Obviously getting out of this league remains priority and I don’t think asking the supporters a few questions is going detract from that. For me, getting it right off the pitch is as important as getting it right on the pitch. Both should work hand in hand.
