Everything these days is all about the 'immediacy' of things, it has to be now, can't be bothered waiting, everything has to happen now..... That's today's society I believe, a lack of patience. In simple terms 'binge watch' rather than wait for next weeks episode.....

With Bowyer, Adams and Hughes there were promising early signs, a reconnection of fans, an uptake in performances and some optimism. Fans believing and fans expecting. Best team, fantastic, gonna storm the league etc. etc.

Fast forward a few weeks and poor games, poor results, worst team ever, relegation, fan unrest at games, social media etc. etc.

I've seen it in microcosm within games at home......fans singing 'we're by the far greatest team', 'we are going up' only to be followed by serious booing 20 minutes later, or vice versa....I ask you....seriously is that a proper take on things?

What does the CEO do, listens to all the unrest on socials and fires the bullet....AGAIN!! Back to square one, fallen down the snake again....

Parkinson wouldn't have lasted in these last few years with his winless run back in the day and current CEO....

I'm not a happy clapper at all but our record of 9 permanent managers in 5 years shows the constant change isn't working.....examples in numerous other clubs around the league also.....weren't we laughing at other clubs who did exactly what we've been doing.... patience is a virtue.....well it used to be anyway....

We can't go back, but I feel like this next appointment really does need at least two seasons to put his stamp on the club and squad.

Everytime a new manager comes in you have someone who will have a different way of playing and will inherit a squad he didn't bring in. Doesn't mean he doesn't want some of them. But will they fit the style?

My theory is it will take at least 4 transfer windows for a manager to bring in a team of his own players and get them playing the way he wants them to.

 

Wishful thinking, nobody could ever last that long at City without getting it right......

 

It’s difficult to have the passion when the simplicity is taken out of the equation Dave. The complex nature of MH ‘s methods were in stark contrast to the front foot style that KM employs. Won’t always work of course, as Tues showed , but on balance, with fit players it will.

 

4 years! no way, they need a plan to build a team from what we have.

Not many Manager's make it to 2 years these days.

Hard to argue with that. To me one of the problems is within the managers themselves. They have a way of doing things which every now and then works with set of players they've got...Bowyer and Blackpool eg. They don't seem to be that good at adapting themselves to the tools given which is why we see square pegs in round holes etc. If, after a couple of transfer windows there's no real sign of a clear plan and better "fits" within the playing system, that's when fans start to chelp. Most of those managers came in with our optimism behind them but if fans perceive a lack of progress it does quickly deteriorate.
It was interesting watching Bowyer at Dundee, he was the bees knees to start with but then it was tinkering, square pegs in round holes etc all over again. I saw a fair few games live and a few on TV last season and they scraped up with a squad that should have made it comfortably. By the end, the relationship with the fans was in tatters and the fans were dreading this season.
It could be that the managers able to make best use of what they're given are few and far between and may be further up the food chain than we'll attract unless there's an up and comer with no track record to come in.
Would we welcome someone with no track record?
So, I don't think it's all down to immediacy of expectations from the fans, I think fans will buy in to something that they can see is a developing plan and accept steady progress within reason. Who at City is bright enough to spot that person though?
How long do we have to wait though...

 

So McDonald said he was happy with some of Tuesday in his most recent interview. Either he's protecting the players or he's simply deluded
