I doubt it was much to do with tactics. We are woefully short of having a decent squad of players, it's actually a joke. Once Cook is off form or injured we are knacked up front. Lewis is our only option in goal and his confidence is shot. Any injuries or suspensions to our first choice midfielders and we simply do not have anyone good enough to do the job. We are fooked and it don't matter which manager you bring in. I can guarantee that people will be calling for his head after less than 10 games. Our only hope is that we have our best 9, 10 or even 11 players week in week out all playing on form. That type of thing for any club is rocking horse sht. What complete and utter garbage recruitment.

We had 5 in the wall and he still left an open space to aim at. All Payne had to do was get it on target. Poor keeping again unfortunately. He appears to be a good shot stopper but poor and vulnerable in other areas. Surely the new manager will recruit a backup keeper in January. Id even consider putting Doyle in goal right now.

One of the MK fans put a little vid from the other end it really did swing. It is on here somewhere. Payne was always a good free kick footballer. A nice pressie for his new manager.

    Yawn.

As with Gary Bowyer, the decision that Hughes needs to go isn't taken in total isolation, it's a response to rampant negativity from a fan base that makes its mind up and won't budge.

There was no point keeping Hughes, or Bowyer (when we were in the play offs), but it doesn't make it a good idea or a sensible approach.

This is called nuance, Monkey, making it possible to both accept the club has no choice to sack either, but that neither sacking was a positive

In your heart of hearts you know this as you're a smart person, but at the moment you're intent on disagreeing with most things that I post, which isn't unusual really.

People on here don’t half love having one or two scapegoats to blame, no player or manager should get away from criticism last night it was shocking from 1-11 and the bench!

Mist frustrating thing for me on reflection was that despite the fact we could easily have been 3 or 4 down before we equalised, we score a lovely goal although according to some on here a keeper should never be beaten from distance. So we get back in it very lucky and instead of thanking our lucky starts, we proceed to continue to play in the exact same way and let MK Dons walk through us at will. No thought for tightening things up or even making a change and changing formation, we saw the car crash coming a mile off but didn’t bother to swerve.

Whilst I’m glad Kev has given us an upturn in form, we saw last night the issue with simply ‘going back to basics’ which is all that he has done. Eventually you need more strings to your bow, we made them literally look like Man City. I think Sutton however are a basic and physical team, so we should be able to take advantage and bounce back.

Tbh I thought it was a worldie free kick at the time and stand by it seeing the footage, just because something is a distance out doesn’t mean it should be an automatic save. Had that free kick happened on match of the day they’d show it over and over again. And had one of our players done it(don’t laugh please) the keeper wouldn’t get a mention, nor did their keeper get a mention for Gillieads goal which was a far more simple save.

They were selling players of a higher level, so obviously would incur higher transfer fees, you won’t get me on that one. They are now L2 with L1/2 playing squad .
So you are suggesting they are profitable on crowds around half of their normal attendance average. They may have made profits on transfers, however those only negated losses to some extent

MK Dons reported a loss of £1.8 million last year according to their latest accounts, increasing the club's net liability position to £13.8 million.7 Jul 2021

Dons report losses of nearly £2mil in 2020 - Milton Keynes Citizen

Since this report they have been relegated and crowds halved

Quoting transfer dealings hides their huge losses.

They include season ticket holders , like all clubs do now Offy . Yes I was surprised myself at the number , but that’s what the MkD commentary team quoted.

Yes and no, Offy, they wouldn’t have factored in VO getting an extensive long term injury, probably?

And that’s why Gent shouldn’t avoid the cull. That’s his job!

Nah, it's called sitting on the fence.

Imo, it was a bit only a positive decision but also a very sensible one to remove Hughes. Whether that decision making continues to be correct with the appointment of a new manager, time will tell but what can't be questioned is that Hughes had not only lost the majority of fans but seemingly some of the players judging by the recent upturn under McDonald.

Right on all counts but it did go through his hands, so it wasn’t a case he couldn’t reach it. Let’s not beat around the bush , it was readily saveable. As I said last night he’s not getting some of the simple stuff right. He even started the long floaty chip out to the wings again, especially to Halliday. He hasn’t done that for three games and he’s reverted back to type. It’s leaves the receiver nowhere to go, it takes that long to get there, he’s surrounded by the time it arrives, or it goes into touch. Honestly I’d play Doyle at the weekend.

The players will turn on a manager when they're getting booed every single time they don't win.

It's an easy way to get the toxicity off their backs.

Players up and down the country recognise this.

There was nothing remotely brave about turning on Hughes - but once the damage was done and even draws were intolerable to a rapid, Rahic-trained crowd, that was that for Mark.

Now we're going to get the fruits of our labour as a fan base, which I suspect will not be a net improvement.

I do agree Kev but surely a manager of MH standing should have vetoed some of those incomings, if he'd actually seen them play.

He can't play all the blame on a poor squad at the door of Gent, especially when he was adamant that recruitment was done by a committee that included Hughes.

The fans were negative toward Hughes because of Rahic?

That's some stretch Jon, even for you.

I’d have to watch it back again in slow mo as my eyes are shot at tbh, but at the time I thought it swerved to his right rather than went through his hands. Either way modern balls move in really weird ways.

I can’t agree with Doyle, he’s seriously under cooked and one error could see the crowed turn and make things even worse. I’d rather try build someone’s confidence than completely destroy it by replacing him with a coach who’s not played in years. It’s Doyle’s job to help rebuild it and help Lewis find his form.

What has last nights performance and recruitment got to do with him, he just sanctions the funding , of players identified by “experts” . That’s how any footballing CeO works.

Don’t get like Fordy and propose a change with zero alternative. Whilst you are responding with a suitable alternative name another CEO with footballing experience (that I suspect you are intimating.) . Less than 2-3 in 92 clubs?

Mansfield’s CEO was/ is the owners wife, bird, partner with less footballing knowledge than our Labradors . It doesn’t work like that, you know full well Jon.
