One of the players we had in that era that meant as a fan you could really identify with the team.
Loved a good hard tackle, had that nasty streak that every good team needed but could spot and play a killer pass.
RIP Mick and sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

Sad news. You could always guarantee if a City player got a nasty tackle the perpetrator would be on Micks radar. Within 5 minutes things were evened up.

Out and out battler, seldom did he bottle it.
    Brave and tenacious.
Very few have worn the shirt with his appetite for getting stuck in.
One of my all time favourite players.

He was the enforcer with quality thrown in. Loved watching this lad play.

    Real shame, RIP Mick.

Agree with all the comments above. When we signed him, all the talk was about him being a hard player but he was a very clever player as well.

One moment stands out for me. 5th September 1987 we played Millwall at home, they had Terry Hurlock in their side - also renowned as hard player. Mick went into him early on, dominated him and we won 3-1. Pretty sure Terry Hurlock scored a 25 yarder though.

    RIP.

One of my all time favourites. This team is crying out for a Micky Kennedy. Micky and Bobby Kicking lumps out of everyone in football heaven.
    RIP Micky

Also much more than a hard man.
Quick free kick from Kennedy to Brian Mitchell. Mitchell hits it first time from 25 yards. Scores.
City beat Spurs in the FA Cup.

I remember the story of Mick Kennedy smacking John Hendrie after the Middlesbrough playoff defeat when he said he was ok because he was leaving anyway.

A lot of good memories watching Mick play for us.What a contrast in his response to being injured! In TA a quote from Mick to Mick Jones."Ah stick a needle in it it'll be right"...wonder what Jake Reeves would make of that?

I have to tell you that Micky died destitute and family are struggling to pay funeral expenses, wondering if anyone could organise a bucket collection next Saturday....sad but true..
I understand that a friend of his has tried to contact his former clubs for help...

Sad to hear of Mick Kennedy passing away, gone far too soon.
Really enjoyed him playing for us, one of my favorite players of that era.
Don't think many enjoyed playing against him.
RIP Mick, and heartfelt condolences to his family.

Very surprised there is no mention on the club site.

A player before my time but it is clear how well thought of he was reading these comments. Condolences to his family, no age at all.

Terrific player. Saw his debut in Jan 88 at Luton in the Littlewoods Cup QF and practically all his Bantams matches over thd next 13 months, especially Everton and Dpurs home cup matches where he was outstanding. Funeral collection is on line right now...via Portsmouth supporters...just search for it..the funeral is on thursday 14th so imminent.
