Thats quite a shock.
We could do with some Micky Kennedy type characters in our team now.
RIP Micky, and deepest condolences to his family and friends

Too young, what a shock! He really was a hard tackling no nonsense player with plenty of skill. How we could do with a Mick Kennedy in our side now. RIP Mick, you will always be remembered at City!

Sad news. You could always guarantee if a City player got a nasty tackle the perpetrator would be on Micks radar. Within 5 minutes things were evened up.

Yes ............ A player who neither asked for, or gave any quarter.
A true footballers man. His family can be proud, within their great loss.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand... -
One of the players we had in that era that meant as a fan you could really identify with the team.
Loved a good hard tackle, had that nasty streak that every good team needed but could spot and play a killer pass.

Proper tough tackling, no nonsense footballer. We had a lot of those in the side during the 87/88 season, and it was him and players like him that inspired me to play in midfield. Could do with some of his ilk now. That's a legacy he should be proud of.

Out and out battler, seldom did he bottle it.
Brave and tenacious.
Very few have worn the shirt with his appetite for getting stuck in.
One of my all time favourite players.

Agree with all the comments above. When we signed him, all the talk was about him being a hard player but he was a very clever player as well.
One moment stands out for me. 5th September 1987 we played Millwall at home, they had Terry Hurlock in their side - also renowned as hard player. Mick went into him early on, dominated him and we won 3-1. Pretty sure Terry Hurlock scored a 25 yarder though.

I remember the story of Mick Kennedy smacking John Hendrie after the Middlesbrough playoff defeat when he said he was ok because he was leaving anyway.

Sad to hear of Mick Kennedy passing away, gone far too soon.
Really enjoyed him playing for us, one of my favorite players of that era.
Don't think many enjoyed playing against him.
RIP Mick, and heartfelt condolences to his family.
