I wonder what Novak thinks of this after been at scunthorpe when McCall was sacked. I just hope that it works out for Stuart but he wouldn't have been my choice .

Time to put negativity to bed. I think we now have a chance of gaining promotion. Hopefully Stuart and Kenny can get the best out of them. Not sure how he is going to use all those tall strikers, lol

Don't start putting pressure on him straight away, lets give him a chance to settle in, he's got a right rag bag full of players to knock into shape, and that will take time, and won't be easy, Personally I think a lot of the team need a good strong kick up the backsideOld Grey Fox, Bronco, Old city man and 4 others like this. -

Welcome home stuart with the group of players we have should do ok loves to play with wingers. It about getting behind a guy that only wants the best for the club and always has. Would of loved for him to have had Vaughan to pick as he is the sort of player macca likes but we are where we are and for me his last spell here was good just the interference of Rahic who never wanted him was clear. I grew up watchin McCall from the days of the bicycle shed midland road to the premiership era and both spells in charge and will be there Saturday to get behind macca and the lads and achieve something this season.

Long term I've mixed feelings about this, because I really would hate it to go badly wrong for Stuart.
But, as of now I'm buzzing. Irrespective of results we are actually going to see some football played again. I can look forward to Saturdays again.
I actually think we owe Stuart this, after the conditions he had to work under last time and the outrageous decision to sack him, having kept us in the playoff places for a season and a half whilst being undermined by Edin at every turn.
It'll be interesting to see if he can get good players like Reeves and Cooke to thrive, where Boreyer couldn't.
But what's he going to do about our soft central midfield underbelly? We don't have a decent tackler in the squad. No Cullen or Vince to break up play. One option would be to move AOC to DM but that would weaken the defence. Tricky.1975citygent, Jayteebee, hippo and 4 others like this. -
I'm sure there will be many fans having a few drinks tonight to celebrate McCall's return. I'm going all out. Curry, with tikka starter and a shed load of poppadoms. My mouths gonna be drier than our GF column under Bowyer.

Thanks for pointing that out. We were all wondering why Bowyer had been sacked and Mccall brought in. Now we know.

"But if McCall’s return makes a few long-suffering fans feel better, or make them look forward to attending games again after the joyless grind of recent times, or at the very least just feel some sort of connection to the club again, then it will be worth it."
Or
"In objective terms, McCall is not an especially appealing manager: he was sacked from Scunthorpe last season having set them on course for relegation, and has never won promotion in his career. There were not, you suspect, dozens of teams clamouring for McCall’s signature and expertise"
Which way will it go this time? Who knows but it will hopefully be fun to watch at least.Inspector, Nick_W_, Botswana Bantam and 4 others like this. -

We all wanted a new man who could give the club a lift and get us back into the promotion mix and who better than Stuart to do that, certainly gives most fans a boost, many saying they are looking forward to Saturday.
We see posters saying they will be returning after boycotting games and I'd suggest the vast majority of City fans welcome this appointment. -

Gotta feel for my young un. i forced him to endure such atrocities as Carlisle, Macclesfield, Mansfield, literally had to bribe him to go to Oldham. And now he's missing the return of the ginger god because of other commitments. Lifes a bitch sometimes.

If he can get us out of this league then at least it won't be to the conference where we could have been heading with another season under Bowyer....
