I don’t know why anyone is surprised that Rhodes would contact McCall while GB was still in post, I know we are not known for planning but not to would have been ridiculous. Has Stuart had a hand in who we bring in? Who knows but Rhodes and Rupp get a pat on the back from me, that shows them trying to rectify their mistake on not doing this earlier. I queried the other day that they sold Doyle and Loaned out Vaughan to gain funds to sack GB. Maybe Stuart was consulted before than happened as well!

 

If Macca can get a player out of Henley.... He truly will be McGod.

Long term I've mixed feelings about this, because I really would hate it to go badly wrong for Stuart.
But, as of now I'm buzzing. Irrespective of results we are actually going to see some football played again. I can look forward to Saturdays again.
I actually think we owe Stuart this, after the conditions he had to work under last time and the outrageous decision to sack him, having kept us in the playoff places for a season and a half whilst being undermined by Edin at every turn.
It'll be interesting to see if he can get good players like Reeves and Cooke to thrive, where Boreyer couldn't.
But what's he going to do about our soft central midfield underbelly? We don't have a decent tackler in the squad. No Cullen or Vince to break up play. One option would be to move AOC to DM but that would weaken the defence. Tricky.

Moving AOC to DM wouldn't be a bad shout, then we can still play Paudie and BRE and give us a bit more confidence in playing two out and out wingers in Middleton (Left) and Dylan/Zeli (Right).

Agree with you but have no qualms about the long term. As you say, he previously worked miracles in impossible conditions, also, if the guy from Transylvania had have backed him as much as the next manager(himself), I am positive that we would have left Div 1 in the opposite direction.

 

Cullen was actually happy to comeback, WH gave him the choice of City, Bolton or Oxford. He chose City mainly as he felt there was "unfinished" business. Unfortunately WH weren't keen on Rahic's brilliant idea that they should pay a development fee to City as well all his wage

Wouldnt have been my first choice but I'm ok with this. Should never have been sacked second time around. I just hope he's backed properly and I hope that if he doesnt get us into the playoffs, he isnt judged fully until next season.

I'm a lot more excited for the 2023/24 season though when Stuart comes back once again. That time he'll completely nail it.
