Looking at the names, a few families lost more then one member. 11 of them under 18.
R.I.P.
Remember it like it was yesterday, what should have been a fantastic celebration turned into a nightmare, I remember the television cuttingto John Helm at the ground and the distress and panic in his voice escalating as the speed of the fire took hold.
I won't post other descriptions but it was truly horrific

I can't believe it is 35 years.
As I get older, I think it gets to me more.
I went to school with Richard and Robert Ormondroyd for four years and played in the same Eldwick Juniors football team with them. They were such lovely lads and so young.

Today was a day of reflection and thanks for what we have.
35 Years ago today 56 football fans went to a game and tragically never came home.
They will always be remembered.
Thank you to all those who sacrificed themselves that day to help and try to drag people to safety.
Thank you to the fire service, the police and the ambulance services for going into what was a living hell.
And finally thank you to all clubs and fans who have sent their thoughts and prayers today.

Yes, remember it like it was yesterday.
I was fortunate that my family, myself and my friends managed to get out safely from different parts of the ground. 3 of us from over the Paddock wall but we can't unsee some of the things that we saw and we'll never forget them.
Many thanks to supporters of other clubs for their kind words, both on here and other social media sites.
God bless the 56 and may all their souls Rest In Peace. Thoughts are with the families and friends of them and similarly all those that have been and are still affected by that tragic day 35 years ago.HipswellBantam, Bantamspaul, Foghornleghorn and 3 others like this. -

Such a strange day - looked at the thread this morning but felt too sad to read further. However , after a walk in the countryside and a few glasses of sparkling wine ( bizarrely it's my wedding anniversary ) felt better. But it's still the most most bitter/sweet day of the year and every time doesn't get better. I was 23 yrs old , on the Kop thinking that floodlight was going to come crashing down ... never did ( I was always bad at physics ) . God bless everyone associated with this football club - wish I could have a beer or two with you all now ( and a hug - in a non Bradford man survivor way ) RIP those and massive condolences to those that lost loved ones.

May 11th will never be forgot the remembrance does bring people together today is also Mrs Rockets sisters birthday who is a City/ Liverpool fan. So a meeting this morning at distance was really moving and pleasing. Cards and presents given a coffee and Whisky, chat about football and Covid 19 then another Whisky. The point is that times like this does bring friends and family together.

A day of thought and reflection on the 56 lives lost and the many changed forever on this day in '85. Must say the Club's Media-cast was fitting given present circumstances and was none the less emotional in the privacy of home. RIP 56.
