Good to see a local lad rewarded with another contract. He has covered Ridehalgh very ably this season. Time to push on and make the position his own within the next 12 months.

Presume this puts the Liam Gordon rumours to bed, unless Ridehalgh is on his way?

I think they're just drip feeding them out to keep us interested in what is, traditionally, a quiet period.
They may (providing the re-sign) keep Vernham & PoC announcements on ice until they need to push ST sales.
As others have alluded to it'll help boost sales ahead of the deadline.
I don't know whether there's a spike in sales each time a signing is announced. If so, you'd be fool not to use these announcements tactically to max sales opportunities.

I doubt that new signings have much of an impact, most who are going to buy one will have either got one, or do like a do and wait to the last minute.

The appointment of Hughes and the positive.end to the season will have swayed a fair few.

He’s never let us down and looks to get the ball into the box when he can. Good options at left back and with his height we might be able to accommodate him at centre half and Ridealgh at left back, with Staunton as back up for both positions.

Staunton should look to leave and get a gig at a club who will work out what his best position is. He's not going to improve sat on the bench as a back up, if he is indeed as good as some say in here he needs gametime. Foulds has looked alright when called upon but doesn't look the sort of centre back to get you out of league 2.

I’ve liked what I’ve seen of Foulds so far, a solid left back that gets forward he’s far exceeded what I expected of him when he came in. Adams apparently wanted him when at Morecambe as well so clearly rates him. Both left backs are solid however so I don’t mind who plays.

He's had offers to leave on loan and not taken them so either he's not got the offers he wanted or he's happy to stay at the club when he's not even getting on the bench. Either way it doesn't look like he's desperate for game time.

I can’t say I have seen anything of him Rog. Is he therefore as good as is being made out?
Somehow I think it’s becoming a bit of a fallacy . Nevertheless he needs to go as does 80% of the squad at season end. ( I realise some are still under a deal)

That's a good question that some fail to ask and he's built up a reputation on not playing rather than playing. Not sure how he's done on loan but if there is a talent there then he should really be playing regualrly in league 2 by now.

I can't really remember well enough to disagree, but my recollection was that he showed a lot of promise and didn't really let anyone down. I don't recall thinking he was our best player though

I like Staunton too. My guess is that because he comes across as a bit more timid than some of the others, he’s maybe not made as deep an impression in training.

Kelleher is toilet, there’s no way he should be even at the club, but he’s a greater physical presence. We know Adams likes that because in this League it gets ugly and he’s deployed Songoo - a big unit - at the back even if he doesnt use Kelleher. Canavan was also a big lad.

I wonder if he thinks Staunton will get bullied. We saw last season he has great potential though, so I hope he gets another chance soon.

RE Foulds, there has been no reason to drop mr consistent Ridehalgh until recently (injury) but Foulds looks ready and is a better long-term prospect.

I get the impression Hughes really likes Ridehalgh, so I think it will be competition between those two for the left back berth next season.

    Build the excitement.

We know for a fact the photos on the club website of Harry Lewis and Matty Foulds are old, because there's still grass on the pitch - it's all sand at the moment.

If those photos were old, particularly the Lewis one, then that suggests those signings (and possibly others) are already completed - so then it's just about the order in which you announce them.

Bigger names last, more suspense around those who people feel are more likely to leave, hence it feels like a bigger coup.

It's just marketing, but I don't know for sure, mate, I'm just guessing.

Im fairly adament that Paudie, Watt and Vernam are off. We might keep 1 if we are lucky. Most likely Watt.....Paudie to Wendy and Vernam to Lincoln looks likely.

Agree. I think if they were staying, we'd have heard by now. I may be completely wrong.

Vernam, I've had a sense for weeks was going to go. Paudie I'm not worried about replacing. Watt, I think could be harder to replace. I think he was more instrumental in the way Hughes want's to play than some would like. However on the plus side, if Watt does leave then it creates an obvious need to bring in a strong, possibly more senior holding midfielder.

Maybe it's just me but I think fans are reading too much into stuff. I think players will be announced as and when they sign. Yes there was a slight delay after Lewis was interviewed in the Kop but it could just have been a case of waiting until the deal went through before they released the vid etc.

I don’t see the point in drip feeding info when you want a stampede in terms of early sales. Doing so builds momentum fans want to be part of

I still think Paudie, Watt and Vernam are off and that’s why nothing’s been announced RE extensions, but we’ll see…..

remember Mezza? His agent advised him not to sign. Thought he’d get a better deal but didn’t. Came back and signed a new deal later on that summer to surprise us.
