Hughes sent Ridehalgh for surgery a week early in order to ensure he has time to be ready for the first week of preseason.

I think it's extremely likely Liam is staying.

    https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/sport/sportlatest/20117243.bradford-city-defender-ridehalgh-facing-groin-operation/

Probably puts to bed any left back rumours. Probably any other left sided defenders will be centre backs, if any.

If we're drip-feeding the lads that re-sign, then it will feel like a lot.

I wonder if they leave Paudie and Vernam until last...

    Why would you do that?

Surely they would be first if already agreed. My thoughts are they are leaving or in talks with other clubs.

    Build the excitement.

We know for a fact the photos on the club website of Harry Lewis and Matty Foulds are old, because there's still grass on the pitch - it's all sand at the moment.

If those photos were old, particularly the Lewis one, then that suggests those signings (and possibly others) are already completed - so then it's just about the order in which you announce them.

Bigger names last, more suspense around those who people feel are more likely to leave, hence it feels like a bigger coup.

It's just marketing, but I don't know for sure, mate, I'm just guessing.

Surely it would be biggest names first to try and drive the ST sales?

Could be. That would make sense.

I'm just going on Foulds getting announced first - we'll see in the coming days I guess.

I agree with that, but on the flip side could be a case of biggest announcements end of the month(pay day)? Get fan’s attentions when they have the resources.

No, the marketing is get things in early so that people buy shirts and season tickets sooner.

This is why we announced Angel and Walker plus Lewis.

Fans want to see things happening. Not leaving it to the last minute. To be fair to the club its cracking on.

The players you talked about will be wanted by other clubs. It wouldn't be in our interest to wait about mate. We want the world to know we are building something good here. Players that might be joining want to know that also ASAP.

I think they're just drip feeding them out to keep us interested in what is, traditionally, a quiet period.
They may (providing the re-sign) keep Vernham & PoC announcements on ice until they need to push ST sales.
As others have alluded to it'll help boost sales ahead of the deadline.
I don't know whether there's a spike in sales each time a signing is announced. If so, you'd be fool not to use these announcements tactically to max sales opportunities.

I doubt that new signings have much of an impact, most who are going to buy one will have either got one, or do like a do and wait to the last minute.

The appointment of Hughes and the positive.end to the season will have swayed a fair few.

whilst I partly agree @Mason Handshake@Mason Handshake I still think there's a lot of floating voters out there who're holding out to see who we sign before committing. MH is good but if we sign dross (and lets face it we've been doing that for the last few close seasons) then we're condemned to another season of failure.
    I don't blame fans for taking a wait-and-see approach.
It would be interesting to know directly from the club whether signings do have a positive affect on ST sales..?

Are you suggesting that the Club is cynical enough to withhold information on signings to a time that could boost season ticket sales?

Casting shade on the Club there, Park.... Most unlike you.... ;)

It will be interesting to see when all the signings are made - we're usually signing a couple long after we've started pre-season, but Hughes seems to have things in hand so far.

I still remember when City fans used to laud Steve Evans for getting his business done early - no doubt at extra expense in terms of wages - so it's nice to see Hughes doing the same, and hopefully his reputation is lowering the cost to the club.

There'll still be plenty of players wanting to wait until all offers are on the table, so we might not be able to have it all our own way.

Im fairly adament that Paudie, Watt and Vernam are off. We might keep 1 if we are lucky. Most likely Watt.....Paudie to Wendy and Vernam to Lincoln looks likely.

Agree. I think if they were staying, we'd have heard by now. I may be completely wrong.

Vernam, I've had a sense for weeks was going to go. Paudie I'm not worried about replacing. Watt, I think could be harder to replace. I think he was more instrumental in the way Hughes want's to play than some would like. However on the plus side, if Watt does leave then it creates an obvious need to bring in a strong, possibly more senior holding midfielder.
