I've been impressed with Matty everytime I've seen him. I read a quote from Adams today that he loves him.

I hope we are thinking of offering him a new contract extension anytime soon. The lad deserves it in my opinion

He’s never let us down and looks to get the ball into the box when he can. Good options at left back and with his height we might be able to accommodate him at centre half and Ridealgh at left back, with Staunton as back up for both positions.

Staunton should look to leave and get a gig at a club who will work out what his best position is. He's not going to improve sat on the bench as a back up, if he is indeed as good as some say in here he needs gametime. Foulds has looked alright when called upon but doesn't look the sort of centre back to get you out of league 2.

I’ve liked what I’ve seen of Foulds so far, a solid left back that gets forward he’s far exceeded what I expected of him when he came in. Adams apparently wanted him when at Morecambe as well so clearly rates him. Both left backs are solid however so I don’t mind who plays.

wasnt sure about him at first but hes done well more or less every time he;'s been on the pitch. happy to have him in and around the squad and has been a decent addition all in all. i think between him and ridehalgh we have good competition at left back, neither of them are mezza levels of good but its definitely not a problem position for us with those two imo. slight tangent but glad hendrie looked good when he played, always want bradford lads to do well and was another i wasnt sure about on his return. I feel bar delfouneso and elliott, our january business was good.

He's good, and more importantly when he's made howlers, we've got away with it.

You need that luck as a younger player, particularly when you've got a manager that likes to name and shame defensive errors (but only when they happen to lead to a goal).

    Hendrie was excellent

At the end no city players looked happy to have won. except him

Hendrie and Foulds steady away no frills just do their job Dennis Irwin stylelyyyyy. However Watt is really annoying and Songo has lost the plot

He's had offers to leave on loan and not taken them so either he's not got the offers he wanted or he's happy to stay at the club when he's not even getting on the bench. Either way it doesn't look like he's desperate for game time.

I agree. I hope he gets a new deal.

Ridehalgh was probably our most consistent player until the new year so through no fault of his own, Foulds’ opportunities were limited.

Since he’s come in he’s looked very assured. Now I think he deserves to start over Ridehalgh if the system demanded it was one over the other.

You've just made an assumption to suit a narrative. I'd say this was more accurate, he didn't want to play for the clubs offered on loan as he didn't see it beneficial to his game. Let's not kid ourselves here, every player wants as much game time at as high a level as possible, it's the only way you can improve as a player. I wouldnt be surprised if the player and his agent hadnt been in contact with the club regarding a move beneficial to the player and his long term future. No point as an organisation having a high opinion of a asset if you aren't going to allow that asset to gain its full potential.

I can’t say I have seen anything of him Rog. Is he therefore as good as is being made out?
Somehow I think it’s becoming a bit of a fallacy . Nevertheless he needs to go as does 80% of the squad at season end. ( I realise some are still under a deal)

That's a good question that some fail to ask and he's built up a reputation on not playing rather than playing. Not sure how he's done on loan but if there is a talent there then he should really be playing regualrly in league 2 by now.

I've just checked and Staunton started 8 league games at the start of last season and, from my view on iFollow, he was arguably our best player in those games. He then got injured and hasn't featured at all in the league under Adams. I think people, including me, are high on him based on those 8 games and assumed he would push on upon his return and have been in most matchday squads. Now that hasn't been the case but is it due to him not really recovering, his attitude or Adams' opinion of him?

I can't really remember well enough to disagree, but my recollection was that he showed a lot of promise and didn't really let anyone down. I don't recall thinking he was our best player though

I like Staunton too. My guess is that because he comes across as a bit more timid than some of the others, he’s maybe not made as deep an impression in training.

Kelleher is toilet, there’s no way he should be even at the club, but he’s a greater physical presence. We know Adams likes that because in this League it gets ugly and he’s deployed Songoo - a big unit - at the back even if he doesnt use Kelleher. Canavan was also a big lad.

I wonder if he thinks Staunton will get bullied. We saw last season he has great potential though, so I hope he gets another chance soon.

RE Foulds, there has been no reason to drop mr consistent Ridehalgh until recently (injury) but Foulds looks ready and is a better long-term prospect.

Isn't funny how players become so much better by not playing ?
