One might say he was the archetypal full back of yester year. That he did moderately well however the “ modern” full back is deemed to be almost equal to a second winger, relentlessly getting up an down the line . Full back helping winger, winger helping and supporting the full back. The pairing just hasn’t worked for me this season down the left , certainly in comparison with the right side. Halliday and AN Other made it work, Foulds and AN Other it never seemed to?

It is a mistake letting him go. He is a good defender especially in the air and puts decent crosses in. The new player.is unknown with a record of injuries. Foulds given the chance to get off the merry go round that Hughes is creating took the chance to move to a well run club and who can blame him. He will do well there and hope his replacement does well here but it is a gamble we did not have to take

Says not to believe all you read. It came out of the blue because it was engineered for him by the club. Hughes made it clear to his agent that he would be at least second or third choice after the window and found Foulds a club that has been impressed by him and asking for him

He waited his time and fought for his place all this and some of last season when not first choice but when given the chance he took it and has been a good defender for us. Hughes had to justify his decision to replace him and has hinted it was the player who wanted to leave but this is unlikely. Fould's has done nothing wrong, he trains hard and plays well. But maybe he isn't Hughes cup of tea and he knows he will be second best while Hughes is here. Good luck to the lad he is a honest hard-working pro

I have no idea what has gone on with Foulds and would rather he stayed, but wouldn't the more ballsy thing to do have been to stay and fight for your shirt, rather than ring your agent? Seems a rash decision and think there's more to it.

You could level the same thing at our latest midfield recruit.

Players fall out of favour with managers all the time and sometimes they are moved in. Doesn’t mean the player is a bad egg or anything. C’est la vie.

No probs. It ruined my day too! Could be worse, mind, could have been Carlisle fans who’d set off only to be shafted!

Imagine if he goes to Harrogate, gets a load of game time at CB (alongside someone like AOC), and comes back with a load of experience he would have never had.

His loan move would be genius.

Alternatively, he just gets a load more minutes at LB - in which case I can see him making the move permanent in the Summer.

If Foulds was from Lo son or anywhere else than Bradford there simply wouldn’t be 11 pages for what is a very mediocre player, best of luck to him but we needed better. If we have it that remains to be seen and is down to the recruitment team.

I believe Hughes said something along the lines of being pleased they've been able to bring Bola in because it was a position they weren't able to address in the summer, so it sounds like it was definitely in his plans but for whatever reason, wasn't possible then.
Foulds has probably fallen lucky with a deal not being done in the summer and Ridehalgh getting a long term injury. I doubt he would have seen much game time if either or both of those things had been different, and he would probably have been out in the wilderness like Hendrie.

Thank you but my opinions usually prove to be correct eventually. Enjoy your Sunday with perhaps a hobby you understand better
Your last comment proves you have no time for other opinions than your own which is sad and a poor reflection on your intelligence
We learn in life by understanding other opinions and a shame you do not understand that and seems you think some other posters are not entitled to an opinion.

Speaking of throws, did you see his throw ins.
Embarrassing a professional footballer cannot take a throw in , not even adequately. They were shocking

It was only one game to go by….Can’t take a throw in, lost his wing back once from memory at the back post when the cross came in from our left ( 2nd half) , other than that he spent time in the oppo half far more than the old full back on the rare occasions when we were going forward. Not a bad first game otherwise.

The modern game requires full backs to defend and attack. 90 %of the fullbacks appearing at VP provide the front men space by overlapping down the sides. That’s where his game was poor imho. He just didn’t support his winger to the same extent say Halliday does. Both equally, using different merits are on a par as fullbacks whilst defending however. Its absolutely no coincidence that MH/GH feel exactly the same. That’s why competition in the form of Bola was brought in…..The rest is history as they say.
