Promotion bonuses and or goals scored will be nailed on, in that 18 months. The “deal” is a headline
comment, nothing more nothing less.

$200m a year is still $200m a year no matter how much you have in the bank. He would be an absolute fool to turn that down.

Broken records, won just about everything at club level, nothing to prove. At 37 he has earned that right I say and fair play if someone wants to pay him that.

 

And we would all do it if we were in his position.

It was undisclosed , how do you know it was big money, or even a good signing. he is stepping down from the championship where he managed just 3 games but has only really played at this level for 1 season with Sutton scoring 8 in 27 and he is 23 years old, so not really set the football world alight. I don't know anything about the guy to be honest, he could turn out to be a great signing or a waste of money, as with all signings clubs at our level make

 

Hes getting a lot of grief for it - dont remember Xavi, Iniesta, Gerrard etc getting pelters for taking farmers league money in their mid 30s......CR is 38 in a few weeks!!

I don't think anyone thinks footballers should play for expenses, but the current salary merry go round is obscene, when many can not even pay for food and heating , basics in life.

 

Left field rather than strange signing. He's nearly 37 but his years abroad should have extended his career lifespan. Could be the next Peter Thorne, and to be fair, Donaldson actually made a difference to a poor team when fit, despite the lack of goals. I'll reserve full judgement until I see him play a few games.

 

Morally its wrong but then the world isn't a fair place, never has been never will be.

 

I would imagine Hughes had in mind Oliver and Derbyshire in the summer to spearhead the attack. Not sure why the signing of Derbyshire fell through in the summer.

Cook came in and probably surprised Hughes with his goals output and of course had no option than to stick with him.

Now he finally has Derbyshire on board, Cook will start much less and wouldn't surprise me to see him sold at the end of the window.
