Being an Aussie and watching a bit of the A League, I must say we have dodged a bullet by not signing Austin. He honestly looked like an A League clogger, playing on injections and is what appears to be a bad egg. I have it on authority that Brisbane wanted shut much earlier to free up a marquee signing slot and ridiculous wages they paid him. Lad would roll up late to training often and refuse to do running drills. Derbyshire on the other hand... Albeit a couple of years earlier looked clinical and a cut above the league. Definitely had the hunger, guile and surprisingly didn't appear to have lost his 'first couple of yards'. And as a standard... The A League is on par with lower league two technically, while the tactical aspects and pace of the game more akin to conference standard. So I honestly think he will give us a better option off the bench than Angol or be a better partner for cook or Oliver up top.

 

Will reserve judgement until I have seen him play.

 

I hope we've saved enough for the one position we're crying out for, central midfield.

 

Pereira and Angol have produced nothing like the sort of form they showed towards the end of last season, Angol is injured again I'm with you let them go if anyone's interested.

 

MH isn't going to openly say what his plans are but we know several players are out of contract at the end of the season. Some may have been told or worked out for themselves that they won't be getting another contract so there may be some movement in and out in January. Andy Cook has probably done enough to earn another contract but probably won't get one.
As for Matt Derbyshire, I'm not particularly bothered how old he is or what wage he is on, I'm more interested in what he produces on the pitch.

Doubt it Steve, I think that it'll be the same team that beat Harrogate. Plus Oliver did OK for me and deserves another start (with Wright playing in the same role hopefully!)

 

I think I'm out on a limb here but I like Oliver and reckon with the right partner he could be a real asset. It's all about managing to get the best out of the tools you're given and so far it's been shoehorning players into a system rather than creating a system with the tools available. Hopefully the window will address this, either bring in suitable players or develop a system that suits what we've got. Let's see what happens

Interesting signing, one gripe is the 18 months. Would rather us have done what Swindon have done with Austin and given him until the end of the season. Let’s hope he’s more Thorne than Donaldson.

 

Vardy playing in the Premier league tonight and he is 35 so can be done if kept fit

 

Nobody knows how this will turn out much is being made of his years but we have plenty of young legs in the team a bit of nous might be good.

Would be utter madness to sell Cook , no one else is anywhere near his goals output or looks like reaching it.
Selling your leading scorer whilst sat in a playoff place is as mad as sacking the manager whilst in the same position.

He is our player now so should get our full backing.
Who goes out though , surely can not be Cook or Vidane, so probably Angol or Young or both
