Our ground costs us £1m a year in rent, so a lot more than Walsall.

    The rent isn't a million.

OK "rent" is being simplistic, its costs £1m to run including rent, so its a bigger outlay than Walsall.

Yeah, from what I remember associated costs plus rent comes to somewhere upwards of a million. When comparing there needs to be a fair comparison of what teams who do rent are getting for their money and what all their associated costs are.

Walsall pay £650k rent. What makes you think their "upkeep" is free.

Can you break that down? Could you back your comments up with any printed link? Curious to see the actual components.

Walsall's latest accounts suggest that they pay a combined rent of £478,000 for their ground and training ground. I understand that the vast majority of that $400k +) relates to their stadium.

That doesn't look to be too different to City's stadium annual rent. They also have a break clause in their lease in around 8 years time, again similar to City.

Walsall's rent is set by and collected by the owner of the club, He determines what the club pay in rent to his own company

Absolutely. As you'll know Ulysses, it's not just rent you pay on a business property, you're usually also responsible for its maintenance and upkeep. That'll edge them towards a million, I'd guess.

I believe it is former Walsall FC owner, Jeff Bonser, who owns the stadium.

The 'new' (2019) owner of Walsall FC, Leigh Pomlett, does, however, have an option to purchase the stadium.

Do Walsall not have any other costs except their rent?

Yep l thought we paid £434,000 for the stadium, not sure what we pay for the training facility. I questioned @weewhiskydram@weewhiskydram ’s figure of £1,000,000 so far no reply.
