My family. The health and care of others around me. My ability to earn money to put food on the table. Now this is only my opinion but i'm sure the postponing of a football match hasn't led to anyone having a mental health breakdown. It may cause some discomfort for some regarding travel plans and the like but i'm pretty sure they will live.

You've reached the poster known as Ulysses S Grant. I'm sorry he is currently unavailable due to observing a respectful period of mourning following the death of our long standing and exceptional monarch. Please leave a message and he will get back to you on his return.

I have no proof, but would hazard a guess there is a high correlation between those who are offended by the cancellation of non essential events (like sport) and those who think Jeremy Corbyn was the next messiah.

Hats off to the authorities. Its the correct, respectful decision.

That other icon of British life, the pub ? No, go have a drink, raise your glass to her (done that in the ling bob already) and chat to others about how great she was and what she brought to the country.

It's all a matter of opinion USG. Carrying on with life is not being disrespectful Many people will have made arrangements for this week, paid out for rail fares, hotels etc and arranged to meet distant friends. Obviously I didn't know her at all but saw her as a great lady who did her duty right to the end. I feel sure that she would have wanted the send off she is going to get but feel equally sure she would have wanted life at other times to carry on. I write this with the great respect her life of service deserves and have never seen Corbyn as a messiah.

For a rational adult, it is only a football match, yes. But some less fortunate suffering mental health issues, having that weekend escape like Loyal says, it is important in their routine.

Don’t underestimate the importance of routine. Lockdown has messed up a lot of kids mentally and disrupting their routines is awful for the families involved.

This forum prob not the place to discuss it, but I think Loyal makes a fair point. It can go much deeper than the simple frustration of missing a match, having a match abandoned.

I’ll tell you this. Kids in our district have to wait two and a half years for certain mental health assessment. Two and a half years. NHS is in tatters. Going to the football can be one of the few places these troubled souls find a ‘happy’ place where they are relaxed.

it sounds trivial to many, but mental health is a horrible thing to deal with. Makes sensible people do crazy things - you look them in the eye and all seems fine, but they can be so messed up upstairs. The brain is dangerous.

RE the last line, in the pub discussion maybe leave out the £21m annual salary she pays to her nonce son from the discussion. God knows what else was paid out in the coverups on top of that, cleaning up his mess.

That’s a pretty subjective issue and not something you should really be judging on.
Some people WILL be financially impacted by this, lots of people do work hard, battling the difficulties of life all week with the weekend sporting events being their only outlet in life.
We can all agree to disagree on whether matches should go ahead but absolutely we cannot judge how each other is affected in any way.

It's a fair comment. I know only too well what steucture brings to certain people's lives, I currently recieve help for trying to take my own life a few times in the last few years. Football is a welcome disraction to my struggles as is the banter with people on here. If it comes across as an attack on how much emphasis football plays in others life's then I apologize, I've just learnt as I get older that to myself there are far more important issues I personally have to deal with than 22 blokes kicking around a football.

No need to apologize Roger. Sorry to hear about your past troubles and glad to hear you are receiving help - good luck with it.

I am with you that its only 22 blokes kicking a footy about but it in my youth especially I used to see it as the be all and end all! As you say, when you get older, priorities change for most.

I hope I didn't come across patronising., I find it easier to talk about my problems these days. There's some amazing services out there for anyone suffering who I can personally vouch for and have been brilliant for me. I ve had some very helpful messages from people on here as well, feel very humble when folk have reached out with their support. Anyway enough of my bollocks, gonna have to find summat to do now tomorrow. Might have to talk to the wife lol.

I wonder how sympathetic fans will be when we get into weeks of midweek then weekend football and two games in 4 days constantly for week after week.

I suppose many will think "they're being paid to kick a football, get on with it" or "they just need to wake up, pull themsleves together and crack on" or "what are they complaining for, they're professionals" and so forth. We're probably looking at two matches being moved into a midweek of an already congested programme which is going to make preparation, planning, recovery all the more difficult.

I don’t think is me causing the offence pal.
I’m sick to death of people trivialising what other people see as important parts of their lives.
From reading the above post it seems @Rogered Tart@Rogered Tart is a bit hypocritical here, stating he had mental health issues and his escape was going to the gym etc. well boo boo there more to life than going to the gym or reading a book.
Yet today he’s mocking me and others for being upset about a football match being cancelled

Dont worry. We will probably get knocked out of the FA cup in round one,and that will free up a couple of dates.
