    Actually....

Before Jewell came in everyone was dead set on getting a big name like joe royle

Give young and unproven ex Park Avenue coach a go and give him some money

Jewell has bags of cash to spend on 1million lee mills and 1.4mil rankin and deano and sharpe on loan...

Whoever it is, they need money for players

Big players on big money and we get promoted

Or atleast better than raiding acrrington Stanley and afc Wimbledon for don Pooleon and shy macaroon

£1 goalkeeper was a bargain Doyle’s been decent back end of season he showed his commitment even if our defence was lacking (we had an experienced decentish defence killer tried hard and did well I thought , KP is ok. I don’t think we saw the best from any player in the back end of the season. Shame warnock couldn’t have signed for another year he was better than chickson but again we didn’t see the best from him

Vincelot sadly dropped in form he was one of the best players the season before

Wykes goals dried up although he is a natural goal scorer just needs service

We just need to go buy all the top players and win the league.

Which is not what the chairman want to do

But Edin keeps saying he wants to buy players develop them get them scored and sell them to the championship

    No.

We need to buy players year or year and get promoted at some point

It will just be a revolving door and the players will just be sold

Could the Wolfe be at the door. I see Hans is high up in the betting The advantage would be good contacts in Germany where there must be good players to be had as Huddersfield have proved

And most wont disagree. However, I believe @Park bantam@Park bantam will and more importantly, the bloke that scouted and signed them.

The strategy is to buy players with some promise and then get a good coach to improve them. The problem, as you say, is that Abbott signed some shite that is providing difficult to improve.

2 very good players that only want a 1yr contract? What happens for their 2nd yr wages or even 3rd?

So what you’re proposing is that we never sign players to improve? So what is the model? You want us going back to the days of Lawn and Rhodes where we are reliant on a cup run and lucky enough to draw a plum tie or having to sell whatever asset we have at the time?

Surely you see this isn’t a long-term plan and is just food to mouth. We have to try something else surely?

I’ve no idea what went wrong this season with their project. But they have been signing players, improving them and making massive profits for a few years now. But it seems they haven’t reinvested that money of late. Perhaps something to do with their new owners taking over?

Not agreeing or disagreeing with the idea, but the annual saving would be 300k (assuming that figure is accurate) so thay’d pay for those said two players contracts each year.

The Leeds concept, from a couple of seasons ago, was to refund 25% on their season ticket price if they didn’t reach the POs.

Additionally. they said that if they sold 15,000 by July 31, 2016, and the club didn’t reach the POs (as a min), the Season Ticket refund, would increase to 50%.

Their adult ST prices varied per stand and whether you were renewing or a new customer. The cheapest renewal was £398 and increased to £629 for the highest price, for the Bremner Suite. New fans were expected to pay £440 to £688.

Now, would our fans be happy to pay £350 on the basis of getting £87.50 back if we didn’t get into the POs, or even a massive refund of £175 if we sold a certain number and still didn’t finish in the POs?

He did say in the Bantams Banter interview that they don’t expect to make a decision until this weekend. It’s only Monday, so we have a few more day to wait just yet.

Yes, that’s what I was getting at. So any money needed to persuade a couple of talented youngsters would get taken up by 2 good players that we have no way of getting a future return on.

As I said, we either try to find a couple of quality youngsters with lots of potential, or we stick to the previous model where we are reliant on a lucky cup run or being able to sell off our best players.

I don't class getting Rangers into their Premiership or getting an inherited promotion ready Brentford team, up as that impressive

What did he do at Rangers and Forest when asked to do more with the playing staff, than what was perhaps reasonable. Nothing

McCann knows the division very well and often second club coaches do well

To be honest I'm OK with either but feel that the clamour for Warburton isn't built on much. Let's give him Brentford's first season, but that's his last success and it was three seasons ago

It's unreasanable not to expect some failures. In fairness to a Abbot there is still a fair chance that Wyke, Robinson, Reeves and McCartan will give us a decent return and that would be the first set of players, you'd expect the program to get better etc

We seem to forget that a 60% success ratio with signings is pretty good. There will always be some errors

Wow ......... That model has scary implications.........

Awful as it sounds ......... Joe Bloggs may well hope that City lose their last two games, just so he and his missus get half their money back.

Also ....... How can you truly gauge the playing budget ? If you blow the lot on fees and wages - and fail to hit the PO's, you instantly have a severe deficit for the following season.

The best thing to hope for is that the initial budget is high enough to genuinely compete for a top 2 place, with the PO's as a safety net ?

According to todays T&A an appointment is unlikely this week , once again we lag behind rivals in this division in player recruitment . Another wonderful pre season coming up .

It's looking more and more likely that there model isent popular with there main coach targets , meanwhile other clubs will be mopping up players !

Is that a way of saying nobody is daft enough, or cheap enough, to take the job on?

The chances are, the players we are likely to be signing arent officially off contract yet anyway. Just because we haven't actually signed anyone, doesnt mean the ground work hasn't been done...jesus, the season hasn't even finished yet for crying out loud.

It may appear that way - We felt the same last year. ;)
I doubt the Window will see any serious action for a few weeks, as many will heading off on their Hols, next week. Then we have the World Cup - So no panic, just yet.
New Manager installed come next Friday .......... 1st June ? Suits me just fine. :)
(Any Manager seriously in the frame will be doing his 'homework' already !)
