I think when it was mentioned about getting him onboard as a defensive coach it was said that he had media work lined up in the immediate future.
Great attitude but I woud be worried he has no or very little coaching experiance at the present moment.

 

Agreed on the experience part, but I for one would be willing to give him a go, knows the club, the restraints. We went down the experienced route with Grayson, didn’t go as planned. Plus at the mo what’s to lose

 

Yes I agree, far too soon for him to be fast tracked into managing, oops coaching us.

 

i nearly mentioned him last night but half expected the why would he come here replies but he fits the bill- whether he would want it is another matter

 

I'm not sure thats the case @Dime77 this appointment will be massive for Edin and Stefan get this wrong (and I accept there are no guarentees) and we struggle this coming season IMO the fans will not be happy and will turn on them.
Up until last season we have had improvement season on season it becomes like winning we as fans get blasé, last season was basically a disaster post December and we've seen very little to get excited about since, so I do believe we have lots to lose if they get it wrong.

 

Now 16/1 on skybet. It would make the Fleetwood game interesting to say the least...

Let's go for broke and bring Duncan (Disorderly) Ferguson in he has his coaching badges, there might be a language barrier though .

 

He'd "sort " Barton out in a breath , + not many managers would argue with him on the touchline.

He has experience but was he successful? Greg Abbott has experience working in Leeds’ Academy. Same goes for Neil Redfearn. But would you want either taking the reigns at City, as Head Coach?

Surely we are looking for someone with a proven track record of developing and improving players, irrespective of results? Obviously the ideal candidate will have success in both (development and results), but the primary aim will be to develop/improve players?

 

Don't forget Joe "where's me teeth" Jordan, combine him with Duncan and Edin would have his private security team as well. Imagine a press conference with those two, arms folded, stood behind Edin. Frightening prospect.

Interesting shout. I'd be happy with someone fairly new trying to make their way. They'll want to succeed and build a career.

Honestly - I haven't a clue, I just know from quickly looking yesterday that he does have the experience. Results - dunno. He won against Wolves on the last game of the season LOL.

All these unknown 'managers' could have the proven track records ie players being promoted from 16/17/18's to development squads to 1st team squads.

I know very little about McCann but a lot of fans think he's a good fit - has he developed players, has he improved them? I haven't a clue. Barton got the Fleetwood job on the back of his playing career, as has Lampard, as has Gerrard (apart from a small amount of youth work). Paul Warne was the fitness coach promoted and did extremley well as he followed his beliefs. All unknown in coaching terms.

Why not there's fa coming out of the club, except stupid "believe" comments, even James Mason has not been as vocal recently, just whats happening down at Valley Parade.

 

I suppose that McCann could be judged on the progress made by the likes of Marriott. A good L2 player but stepped up and has developed into a player good enough for the Championship. There may be others, but I can’t say I take too much notice of other clubs and their development of players to be honest.

And whilst you are right about Warne, the likes of Lampard and Gerrard are unproven at this stage but will have large pots of money to spend on their squads. They won’t be judged on player development and I’d expect they will buy in quality instead of promoting it.

 

Possibly something, possibly nothing. Possibly I don't have a clue.
