Manager Rumour Thread

Apparently the two leading candidates in this "dead horse race" have asked for a couple more weeks to "think things over". My response to these two would be to say sorry but we've decided neither of you are for us ! Any applicant who cannot say outright they would accept the job ! and want "edge their bets" on something else cropping up over the next two weeks ? ! Should not be the manager of Bradford City Football Club !

 

If that's true then I 100% agree and I would hope Edin has told then to go do one.

 

Especially as now is the time the new man should be having input into any signings
Unless the new head coach is already making the signings

 

On the flip side, I’d rather someone consider the role thoroughly and carefully, rather than accept the role then complain in the job.

 

I think that City pursued Grayson after the McCall sacking, he didn't apply.
Maybe they have had a list of targets they have approached and have been told to do one by those people?

 

I told you the reason we didn’t ask compensation and I stand by it. The new owners honoured a promise by the previous board

 

McCall so much as admits that if it had been any other club he wouldn't have taken the job. Regardless of what people think of Rahic, we should be an attractive proposition to many a manager/coach who is either out of work or looking to further his career to get to a bigger club. There's only so many of these jobs about and more and more young managers coming into the game. Refreshing to see clubs take a chance on untried prospects rather than the same regurgitated managers who have sacked more times than i care to remember.

 

Dunno. Many potential questions each having several possible answers.

 

But he said he doesn’t see the point of promotion if it means having to sign 20+ players to be competitive in the Championship.

He also said the new HC needs to buy into the philosophy of bringing through youth, even if it means sacrificing promotion. That clearly wasn’t Grayson (ask Gibson).

So why was he desperate to sack McCall who was happy to play kids when needed, and bring in a manager whose only directive was to get us promoted (even though that is not the objective for the new HC)?

The point still stands why after Edin and Stefan had spoken to Phil Parkinson about their dream/vision did he want nothing to do with it, compo or no compo.
Phil Parkinson and James Mason had done a video after the Millwall defeat and Phil was saying they were getting targets sorted and things put in place for the coming season, I believe he actually said in the video he was hoping to speak with the owners/Edin that coming week.

Realistically what is going to crop up though. The sackings and resignations are done now and so has most of the recruiting. If I was a Warburton or a Grayson I'd be jumping at what slender pickings are left or go on holiday and work out where the most likely vacancies will be early in the season.

 

Part of the hold up is that we are looking for a head coach and not a manager, but why couldn't a manger work under our model? Rahic's recruitment policy/philosophy involves bringing in experienced players for the first team squad along with a mixture of youth players who should be given opportunities "if they are good enough" (his own words). Most experienced managers would be on board with that. PP arguably the most anti football manager out there had no problem with bringing in and playing young talent such as Burke, Cullen and Evans because they could all enhance the first 11. He also nurtured and gave ample opportunities to a young,unproven Nahki Wells and the rest is history. Point is, if experienced managers will and have proven to buy into Rahic's philosophy under the right circumstances, why limit ourselves to a head coach?

It's just one theory amongst many. I like to consider different possibilities rather than immediately jumping to a negative conclusion .

 

I can only assume it’s down to our transfer policy. A manager will have his own list of targets and asks the owners to sign the ones he feels he needs.

A HC will be given the players to work with, with just an occasional input into the targets.

And this is why Rahic is set on a HC and not Manager. He wants to continue to play his expensive game of Football Manager.?

Only logical explanation I can think of

 

I was thinking something similar but they also offered a 2 year deal to Grayson- a manager and not a headcoach. There are far too many contradictions and mixed messages to try and make sense of anything.

 

Reading some of the posts on here that is what I believed to be the situation, the head coach worked with the players at his disposal, then others say the head coach will have input into all signings, yet we are signing players who might have been identified by Grayson (remember he was telling us all he was giving the club targets he'd like) yet if he'd have taken the offer in May to extend his contract he would have been the manager at the club............as you say as clear as mud.
