    oof, who knows?

our definition of 'prepared' wildly differs from those at the club's I think, judging by Abbot's reaction to someone labelling this years a shambles.

This idea that because the process is taking longer that somehow we are going to end up with a better candidate is laughable. We could take till next year, doesn't mean the prospective manager is going to be any good, all this bollocks about waiting for the right choice. Just get on with it FFS.

Exactly, you could interview someone everyone agrees good candidate, but then another manager is sacked and you think he is good we will just interview him, meanwhile your preferred candidate has been appointed by another club, turns out the latest interview didn’t go too well, now what?

You have to have a proper timescale that everyone understands, and you appoint your preferred candidate, stop thinking that the grass is greener on the other side. Stop trying to make up for last seasons debacle, learn and move on.

    Cart before the horse?

It's a difficult situation to be in really 'cos
    a) You don't want to miss out on players or have too small a squad.
    b) You don't want to get players that a new manager doesn't rate.
    c) You want the new manager to have plenty of scope in the budget to build a team.

    Awkward.

I certainly hope all the time invested in who is the best and right recruit pays off. If we are struggling and have to dispose of his services after a bad run of 6 games - then they are going to have egg on their faces. If the coach has developed a player(s) we are told that will be taken into consideration- but what are the numbers - time scales he will be given?
To be honest despite there being a clash of characters and some disagreement with McCall - I cannot understand why for the benefit of the club they could not resolve their differences and both parties try to take the club forward. Comprimising is a big part of life / business in gaining success - it would have saved a a lot of wasted, time and energy that could have been spent on other priorities,

Thing is though Dave, even if they had promised not to change things, Parky didn't stick around long enough to test that promise. He was gone within a week of them arriving. If he had stuck around I suspect it would have been his last season here whether the owners were rack & ruin or laurel & hardy. He's too ambitious not to have wanted to move on.

Agree. It’s a big appointment granted but it was always possible that Grayson was going to leave so you there should have been some contingency plan. It almost seems like they don’t really know the industry (or what to do)

Thank god they didn't stick with the last FTE Manager. We would be preparing for Div 2 now under his (lack of) leadership.

I've voiced my opion on the McCall situation @Briggus@Briggus but the more we read of the likes of Graysons comments and the length of time its taking to make the next coaching appointment you do have to ask was the bad run and McCalls sacking a way Edin could appoint someone who he can have input in footballing matters.
He said Stuart would not allow outside interferance in team selection, would the new man be as strong.

The test of whether them taking their time will come on who is chosen and the job they do,
We are not the only club taking their time appointing a manager

Just like we could've been preparing for the championship had the linesman raised his flag at Wembley last summer?

    Aboslutely!
No guarantees of success with any candidate no matter how much they build them selves us as per Grayson. Who was only here, as he thought he had a fair punt to bolster his CV with another promotion.

Bronco, take it or leave it on what I heard. Not that bothered as its old hat now.

After Wembley a compromise was reached. Edin would have more say on the football matters. Enough to keep him happy but not enough to stand on McCalls toes.

He felt being involved in the transfers and dealing with agents along with Greg was not enough. He wanted involved in the grass roots side of the business. He wanted to talk to players regarding their training methods and how he thought the development of these players should progress. He also wanted to bring in his players without the blessing of greg and stuart.

This was decided as I said after Wembley. McCall agreed to compromise for the sake of the club. He was certainly not happy about it but let his heart rule his head. As time went on, Edin wanted more and more of a say. Let me stress that this is rumored that he disliked certain members of the squad that Stuart liked. He wanted development players in the first team. This is why Jacob Hansen was chosen rather than a replacement in January.

The friction got more and more abrasive as the players were soon told who was the real boss and it was not McCall. Players knew their futures and McCall had no say (McMahon). The working environment was toxic.

So lets take our time and get the right man. He has to be able to work under these conditions or it will soon be manager number 5.

    Hoping something better comes along.

If Edin is telling these new managers the exact layout then fine. At least goal posts wont be moved. But he must also tell us the faithful following the truth!

1, Is it a shit budget.
2, Are we wanting promotion or development
3, Who is to blame if things go sour, do we just blame the new guy for edins vision?

Dont treat us like mushrooms, and spill bullshit. Example, "We are after a coach", then hire an experienced manager in Grayson.

    JUST TELL THE TRUTH

PS I personally think Simon Grayson was brought to the club to appease the mass. He was the best man for the job of getting us promoted after McCall had left him with a great chance of play offs with 14 to go.

A gamble that Simon lost. Edin in my opinion would not have welcomed someone like Grayson full time. Even if we got promoted both parties would have handshaked and walked in different directions. Lets see who our next manager is and see if it backs up what I personally think. I personally think a young coach with Edin as his mentor is the way the club wants to go.
