By putting it in inverted commas I think he was trying to suggest that the local’s he speaks of aren’t so local. By using phrases like that and “the other lot” the racists know that they can fend off any accusations of being racist by getting into semantics. Old school trick mate.

 

He who's looking for racism will find racism, even in places where most wouldn't think to look. I personally used the term 'Leeds road drivers", in some eyes i'm probably a racist. All depends what the agenda is.

 

I’m not looking for anything, I’m simply reading his post exactly how it’s written. Single inverted commas in the context he’s used them is there to signal irony I.e the opposite of what is actually meant. Kind of like how someone who doesn’t know how to draw might be described as an ‘artist’ or how Bowyer recruited 15 ‘footballers’ in the summer- both terms obviously used loosely. Take that element out of it, just describe them as “2 locals” and this wouldn’t even be a discussion.

 

Just imagine if a group of white guys tried to run down people out side a mosque ,these nutters would be called out for what they are "Racist".

I have seen two of these incidents and the occupants in one of the car's laughing.

I ran a business for years in BD3 and now work in BD9, I live in BD10 and the horrendous driving in Bradford is a predominantly asian problem. The elders recognise this and do what they can, if they can talk freely about it there is no point in wriggling over inverted commas.

With shared pool cars and ever rising insurance I really don't know what the answer is, so many won't pay for insurance and the loss of a pool car might be less than £100 to each "owner" with the driver nearly always untraceable.

 

Even if this was true, what’s the link between race-fueled, unlawful behavior taking place in public and racist remarks being made on here? I’m not getting it. Are you trying to suggest that because there are incidents of higher magnitude taking place elsewhere then we should completely ignore @Idlebantam’s comments? Well given the platform we’re posting that’s highly unlikely. He made his remarks on here, and he’s rightly being questioned on them. Horrific driving in and around the Manningham area does nothing to change that.

 

If you think that I am racist because I see horrific driving on a daily basis, especially on Shipley Airedale Road, and I tell you that 90% of it is by Asian drivers, I am not going to lose sleep over your perception of it. I say it as it is mate.

 

No. Seeing horrific driving on a daily basis and describing them as “Asian” doesn’t make you racist. That’s not what you said though is it? Perhaps you can explain why the Asian drivers you’re referring to aren’t local enough for you?

 

An interesting number of opinions and comments on what are in no way racist incidents. As Nottsy alluded to its young idiots trying to be wannabe gangsters, whoppers who have played far too GTA5 on the xbox. The fact we see more cars of asians involved around inner city Bradford is because of the laws of averages, there are far more of them around the inner city thats a fact. I would say there is a problem with the driving amongst the younger asian fraternity but i'm not sure of the reason? Its not prevalent amongst the older generation but Bradford has become a racetrack for Audi RS3 and Golf GTi drivers.

For your information, I have Irish and Italian family and Asian friends. So to put your mind at rest I am not racist.

 

Lots of people have used the word local, others even using terms such as “Leeds Rd drivers” and yet none of them have quite rightly been labeled with the racist tag. Perhaps you should scroll up, re read your comment and ask yourself why you have?

In reality, I think you know very well what you’re doing. You say enough so everyone understands your racist remark but also make it vague enough to deny the accusation later. I know what you meant, you know what you meant. Having friends from different cultures doesn’t stop you from posting diatribe online.

I haven’t twisted anything. I read his post exactly how he’s written it. If he didn’t mean it come across in a certain way then he should re evaluate his writing because “2 local lads” and 2 ‘local’ lads are certainly not the same thing. The latter insinuate’s something different all together.

I don't know about race, but the worst drivers I see on a daily basis are women driving 4x4's and idiot men driving audis.

Every day these idiots are out in force.
