Interesting game this, one we could do with winning.

Other than league visits it got me remembering a cup win there in ET, sure it was when we were in the prem (?). I'm certain mccall scored. It was a tues night, anyone remember this one or am i imagining it? Have to echo the sentiments re. A proper old style ground, open terrace etc.

 

Our first season after relegation from the Prem., but otherwise nowt wrong with your memory -- 2001 season, 2-1, McCall a 115th minute winner. Be nice to win there again tomorrow, but somewhat more comfortably, please!

Glad to know I am not losing it i recall we went in my friend's Vitara, which we endlessly took the piss out of him for driving, it had the most uncomfortable seats in the history of automobiles. Horrendous journey made better by Stu.

Seem to have said this every year since the Leeds game but we know more than anyone that a run in this competition can provide incredible memories. Premier League sides coming into it in the next round and the scrapping of extra time will surely make the likelihood of a shock even greater.

So the League Cup represents a big opportunity for Collins to get fans on board. So it should be a strong side with maybe a handful of changes. I'd like to see Kilgallon, McGowan, Robinson & Miller getting some game time. Maybe even appearances for Reeves & Jones from the bench if they are fit enough.

Just hope the players and management are taking the game seriously because we've had some dire performances in the League Cup since that Leeds game four years ago.

 

Think the board are pushing for cup runs as it’s revenue for the club.

Been to Macclesfield twice over the years.I think one that we played in we lost and stood behind goal on open terracing.The other match was called off when I was there.Sure it was game when Paul Thomlinson played.I was parked up and he parked in front of me and got his kit out of the boot of his car.

I got a programme at called off game which is a collector's item if city gent guy is correct, as he was asking if anyone had one.

I think the game you're thinking of was against Chester who used to ground share with Macclesfield in the early 90's.
We lost there 4-2 in March 91 and drew 0-0 March 92, which I think was a re-arranged game on a Tuesday night.
