I would expect Platt to be dropped then it's a choice between Stubbs on the right or middle with Tomkinson and Kelly. For me Kelly has been fine and being left footed there's no need to drop him, also he's the only one who'd played full back so he'll be more comfortable covering in the wings.

It's good to see that MH has got what he wanted; a leaner squad than previous seasons! ;)

Kelly has been probably the most consistent, steady and away as they say.. It’s between Platt or Stubbs?

Not a chance. Kelly has improved with every game and I reckon will soon be the best CB at the club. Stubbs started off fantastic with us but a few faults have crept into his game this season, same as with Lewis

Whether you think it should have been more quality over quantity or not which is down to the manager it can not be said that the club haven’t backed the manager all the way

What we don’t know is how much has been spent on players to make proper assessment of quality over quantity. In my view for what is worth we needed a top quality striker. They cost of course, but I have been waiting all summer for the bells and whistles striker to be announced. I know other players will contribute but to make sure we are in the auto’s that is what was needed.

Out of interest, how much backing in terms of a playing budget do you think the club has provided to the manager?

Simply saying it's 'competitive' is avoiding the question! I recall ML once using the same phrase and when the SCMP letters, detailing the (anonymised) clubs' budgets, were issued, it was obvious that 'competitive' really meant mid-table competitive. That season ours was 10th highest which ML later confirmed.

I agree. I understand them not wanting to release sensitive financial information to our competitors but we have no idea where we are as opposed to other teams. We could have a mid table budget for all we know. At least then we wouldn’t be expecting auto’s. There it is, if they tell us then there sustainability model may well go straight in the bin.

If he continues to fart about pretending to be a dribbling ball playing centre back he will get caught and he will get dropped or booked and suspended? He nearly got caught several times at Mansfield.

I would much prefer he leave it to others .

I stand by what I said he is our best defender by some way and if any of the three drop out it won’t be him

Based on the summary of ticket sales announced yesterday, I calculate we will receive somewhere in the region of £2.4m. Then we have those that turn up on match day, circa 850 paying £20 (for 23 games) brings in another £391k. Now, not all match day sales will be adult tickets, so they figure is likely to be less.

Do we include iFollow sales (mainly overseas but also the occasional Tuesday night game) too? What about the corporate events, i.e. food & drink in the suites before the game? What about sales of suite upgrades too?

Wage budget has previously been described as “ticket sales”, so this means it could be anything from £2.4m up to circa £3m. Sounds competitive to me, until you then divide it by 30 players (ave £1.5k - £1.9k per player)

Just to build on what @Jordan@Jordan said really - Evans was said to be after him last summer but he joined in the winter window and mainly to cover Vancooten who was in and out with injuries. Piergianni and Vancooten was Evans first choice either as a two or a back three. When Vancooten got injured he brought Tomkinson in and then he dropped back out again when he was fit - sort of coincided with a run of not great results generally for Stevenage - they lost to Rochdale etc

He was/is quick which will be the most important attribute to us. Potentially a really strong signing if he's now fit because he's done a league two loan already so we should see some stronger performances from him now he knows what it's about. Could potentially be as decent a signing as Crichlow.

Mmm. That's a bit out of date. Our playing budget cap under SCMP is a little over £4.5m. That's based on what Sparks said about our income for the year and the success of the commercial team in attracting more cash into the club. If the good work of the commercial team isn't being reflected in the quality of the team on the pitch, somebody is wasting their time imo.
