Football in the lower leagues will change dramatically after this. We can’t say whether we’ll have a good or crap team next season and neither can anyone else. Some teams will most likely go bust and others will be more reliant on their youth teams, even though players will have to reduce what they’re after many teams are still going to have to seriously cut their cloth accordingly. Unless some of the 800 OOC players take drastic wage cuts and I mean by around 8/10ths with players like Akpan then clubs just won’t take the risk now.

I can see a lot more youthful looking league 2 when it gets underway again.

We could do it early but does anyone have any faith in our scouting network? Seems to consist of players we've had before or youths from our manager's former clubs.

    For ever Accrington there's a Sunderland, for ever Stevenage there's a Salford/Bradford/Swindon.
    Capitalism Broncs.
Everyone think's the league above is the promised land and will chuck brass at it. Everyone always looking to get an angle at the Rules and fair play regulations.
We've discussed the Championship wages /costs / club losses previously and those figures are eyewatering.
With likes of Mel Morris/Andrea Radrizzani, it aint going to change anytime soon.
The weakness of especially Shaun Harvey's tenure as CEO of the Football league was an embarresment

I like your thinking. Big budgets have usually backfired for us in the past but don’t think you need an astronomical one this time to do well out of it.

Imo the scrapping of windows would help lower down. Stop the panic.
And also stop copying the hire them and sack them in 5 months plan of the top clubs if it doesn’t work instantly. We can’t afford it. It means a whole new set of coaching staff, whole new set of players etc. Time we gave them a good budget and longer to get their ideas and plan across.

Can't disagree, I personally believe clubs in leagues 1/2 will take this situation to clamp down on players who in the past have been able to negotiate a good package with regards a short term fix, I'm hoping owners see they have an advantage with regards players wages, hoping they will they be brave enough to say enough is enough even if that means as many have asked in the past a longer term plan/strategy.

Do we have a so called scouting system I'm not sure, when Stuart took over from Parky he was gifted a good group of players with the right mentality and ability at league one level, he did a good job of adding what he thought would improve in other areas, so hopefully Stuart will have a very good idea of whats required and if you remember before this virus he said he was discussing target with Julian.

As you say there will always be the Mel Morris & Andrea Radrizzani of this world and up to a point its difficult to argue that their particular clubs should be Premiership clubs so they will chase the dream.

A club like Fleetwood Town are always held in high regards as to how a club should be run, yet when you look into the accounts their accumlative losses are over £15M and propped up by their owner Andrew Piley.

Yeah season long loans to EFL clubs general expire on the last day of April. Clubs who look like they will be in playoffs will have negotiated an extension around the start of April but obviously with this situation no club will have bothered doing that and playing players for longer than they need to

It's likely to be a benefit to you tbh due to your attendances. Even in League One you would be 4th on average attendance and 18th in Championship (and you have 4k more attend games than PL Bournemouth). That’s going to put you on a good position to offer better terms to the significant number of free agents than other teams

In terms of revenue, take our attendance figure and half it for a more accurate picture of our financial clout.

You need to remember you aren’t the only club offering significant discounts on season tickets though so while your tickets are good value I doubt if you had the raw numbers that the price undoes the benefit anywhere near in most cases than you are implying

It’s a well known fact that our season tickets are significantly cheaper in comparison to the majority if not all other league clubs. In terms of using our high attendances to benefit elsewhere in terms of shirt sales, lucrative sponsorship deals etc I think you may be overestimating us.

We aren’t a wealthy lower league club by any stretch of the imagination.

I agree when it came to us in league 1, but in league 2 even with discounts nobody really gets close. If you half our season tickets sales but double the price that’s be around 6,000 paying £300. Nobody in this league gets close to them sales most average 2-3,000 and some are cheaper than £300. Then add in increased revenue in other areas and there is absolutely no excuse not to have the financial power to outspend everyone at this level by some way.

Actually just realised Julian Rhodes is at the club. Forget outspending anyone.

We have larger overheads than some clubs. Rahic's contracts are almost done with but there's still our ground rent to pay. Not many L2 clubs will be forking out a hefty wedge on rental payments.

I do think we’re in a better position than most to get through this crisis at this level, but Rhodes is like the Tories of 2010. It’ll be austerity all the way. That said I think most at this level will be doing the same. Every club is propped up by a business man, what makes this crisis unique is it’s not something that just effects football finances. If it was rich business owners could prop the club up through success of their other business. However all sectors are going to be deeply effected unless you’re Andrex, will these business men be so will to prop clubs up when they’re losing loads of money in every area of their life? I doubt it.
