Completely agree. This is why 4 different managers have failed up till now in 2018. It was easy to pin the blame on Collins at the time of his demise but hindsight has now proved blaming him for results was at best very harsh. The other three managers to have a go all have excellent pedigrees either as a player, manager or both. Not one of them could get a tune out of the players in 2018. Not one.

All this year we have, quite rightly sometimes, berated the players for their performances when the fundamentals of the club have falling apart at the seams. Its like building a brand new house on a foundation of sand and then blaming the bricklayer when the walls start to crack and fall down. There are other circumstances that throw weight to this argument, quite a few in fact, but none so damning that 4 different managers have had no effect with on field performances. The whole shebang is clearly not working, in any other business there would a vote of no confidence and the top brass removed and replaced before the ship hits the iceberg. Because this has gone so bad so quickly we have hit the league 1 iceberg already and now look like damage limitation rather than a full out rescue.

As the for the tipping point of January, that looks like it might come too late. Might be a case of writing the season off at that stage and waiting for a new regime to start the summer with a fresh start. A terrible and negative way to look at things but sometimes you have to take extreme measures and go a couple of steps back in order to progress forward.

It was a simple concept. This club couldn't afford to think about a long term future, it was heading out of the football league. So any available funds are put into first team strengthening and the manager is left alone to run the ship the way he sees fit. It worked, it got us to the playoff level in league 1 but had reached a plateau. The news of a new regime with what seemed a long term approach to sustainability and a realistic tilt at the championship seemed like a no brainer. But heres the kicker in all this. Money. And as @Dennis@Dennis has correctly spoke about previously, look at the club who have gone up in the past few seasons, their owners have backed the club to attain this promotion.

I agree with both @Dennis@Dennis and @Rogered Tart@Rogered Tart posts on this thread. It is gloomy but no point in hiding away, it is coming to the time when we all have to stop regurgitating the past and start to reconstruct our club again. This reconstruction cannot happen with Rahic at the helm, he needs to leave. Rupp either needs to sell up or roll his sleeves up and invest in this club. Either way we need somebody to run this club who actually knows and understands how to take this club forward, yes we need investment that cannot be paid immediately, but in the grand scheme of football finance we are not talking billions, but maybe a couple of million. This needs to be totally invested in the first team squad. I am all for investing our own youth, but that will require extra investment. In my mind this needs to be seperate with its own coaching team.

He certainly understands that Collins was a major error of judgement. He has also accepted they have been caught out with spiralling wages in this league.

That was a clear error to everyone at the time, how come he was the only one who couldn't see it for the mistake it was?

No. But even JR has told him a league 1 strikers demands have gone up by 60/70% in the last 3 years.

Doyle must be on a few quid. Presumably, Mellor, Scannell, O'Connor & Akpan too.

We've just not spent it wisely.

    One thing every Chief Ece
The thing is though, and you’ll no doubt know it as well as anybody, to be successful in business you need to listen to those around you to inform your decisions. There is not a person in football who couldn’t foresee the trickle down of wage demands caused by the Premier League TV deals. Moreover there can have been barely a person alive who thought appointing Collins was a good idea. I cannot believe that McCall, Black, Abbot, Mason, Grayson, Rhodes, any of the agents he speaks to and other football chairman and CEOs have not given him advice. His major error of judgement has been not listening to that advice and thinking he knows better.

He should go to Accrington and spend time with their chairman, see how he runs his club as a community asset, lets the manager manage football affairs and is humble mixing with other fans. He should visit Blackburn, see how the Venkys turned it around, how unfashionable Burnley stay in the PL, Forest Green about how Dale Vince has built a club. He should then go to Chesterfield, Torquay, Orient, York, Stockport and see how they’re doing and how hard it is to get back in to the league when you have Salford throwing £4k a week at strikers. And may be Darlington and Rushen and Diamonds and see what can really happen to a club when the shit hits the fan.
