    1. Pursuing a lucky dip approach to recruitment in the hope we might unearth a player worth serious money.

    2. Treatment of SM. He nearly made their aspirations come true, and they hung him out to dry.

    3. Getting involved in the football side of things, beyond setting budgets.

    4. This summer's debacle. Just wtf?!

    5. Not valuing people. His treatment of SM and James Mason as prime examples, and the inferences of others as to his lack of respect. He sees footballers as commodities, to make him money. Ostensibly, this may be correct but it should not inform all dealings with people.

As I see it, the problem with most fans is that Edin's action on and off the pitch, real and mythical have reduced his standing with many fans to such a low level that I don't know how he can ever turn it around. The fact that some staff were sacked because of what they said to others or did or couldn't do in their jobs; that others resigned to go to another job closer to home or that one resigned because he wasn't offered the job he felt he deserved is all blamed on Rahic. He is certainly responsible for many things at VP and as the omnipresent co-owner, he sets the tone and the atmosphere within the club. But to blame him for everything negative at VP without exception is unfair. But imo he'll never turn that around now and I don't see a future for our club with him at the helm.

The decision to spend six weeks signing players without a manager and then appoint the youth team coach as the manager is without a doubt the most stupid decision ever taken by a Bradford City owner in the history of the club. It makes Richmond's summer of madness look like some kind of divine masterstroke engineered by a genius. I'm pretty sure that you could select a random supporter out of the stands and that they wouldn't have made such a catastrophic error. Edin is still trying to underplay it by insisting that it seemed like the right decision at the time, but we should never let him forget this one. This is a level of incompetency that you would struggle to fabricate.

To quote Shakespeare "If this were played upon a stage now, I could condemn it as an improbable fiction."

I took a different view at the time. I genuinely believed that nobody in their right minds would pay €6mill for a 3rd tier football club without its own ground and without too many saleable playing assets without a plan to get the club into the Championship where somebody else might well pay more for the club. When that was reinforced by Rahic saying they wanted to have our own development squad who would become the stars of the future, I genuinely believed that they would have a plan to invest in these youngsters and to improve the coaching side of the club. All of this would require investment by the owners and I had anticipated that the investment would be forthcoming to deliver on their and our dreams.

At the time, I never believed it was just a pipe dream and R&R really wanted to do it all on the cheap. Anybody with two brain cells who has been successful in business as Rupp has and as financially savvy as Rahic has made out could have spent a few hours looking at how other clubs have been promoted to the Championship in recent times and what its has required from the owners with additional short term investment. There's a list - Sheffield, Wigan, Bolton, Blackburn, PNE, Millwall, Rotherham, MKD, Barnsley, Brizzles - who in recent times have been promoted and have done so because of their owners personal financial commitment to their clubs. How else would R&R expect it to be delivered?

But no, none of this has really happened. R&R have a very different view on how to run a promotion seeking football club from most other successful owners and it's barely different from the ML&JR approach. And we are now faced with the reality of the R&R approach, ie trying to do it on the cheap. For all sorts of reasons, we face an uncertain future. If recent results continue until the transfer window opens, we could be 12 or even 15 points adrift from the safety zone and with half a season to go at that point, that's an almighty deficit to overcome.

I agree with both @Dennis@Dennis and @Rogered Tart@Rogered Tart posts on this thread. It is gloomy but no point in hiding away, it is coming to the time when we all have to stop regurgitating the past and start to reconstruct our club again. This reconstruction cannot happen with Rahic at the helm, he needs to leave. Rupp either needs to sell up or roll his sleeves up and invest in this club. Either way we need somebody to run this club who actually knows and understands how to take this club forward, yes we need investment that cannot be paid immediately, but in the grand scheme of football finance we are not talking billions, but maybe a couple of million. This needs to be totally invested in the first team squad. I am all for investing our own youth, but that will require extra investment. In my mind this needs to be seperate with its own coaching team.

The only mitigating factor for them, is we were on the verge of the Championship. If we got there the club would be worth £10m overnight.

However, they didn't invest in that team and the rest is history.

Should have kept his mouth shut when he first joined and given PP what ever he wanted and there would have been no need for all this rubbish that happened with McCall et al. We’d be in the championship now and probably surviving just about each season.

As for the rest, we get rid of people at a football club, which to me is fine, football clubs are different workplaces to anywhere else in the world. My problem is we never replace anyone with equal or Better quality. Be that backroom team, club staff, players, managers. We should constantly be looking for something better but we just go for club member after club member leaving with no real replacement. It’s a shambles

A very reasonable post and one which I agree with. The reason I asked my original question was because he is falsely getting blamed for everything. Rumours I know to be untrue have become fact. However I agree his position at the club has become untenable.

They were badly advised by somebody!

Consider our opponents yesterday who were also sold by their former owners around the same time as R&R bought us. Just as ML&JR did, the former owners of Pompey came clean and said they didn't have the resources to get Pompey promoted to the Championship and become established there. So they sold the club and their ground to a new owner who could take them forward for £5.5mill. About the same time, R&R bought our club without its own ground for in excess of €6mill. Trying to be objective about it, I wonder who got the better deal?

Completely agree. This is why 4 different managers have failed up till now in 2018. It was easy to pin the blame on Collins at the time of his demise but hindsight has now proved blaming him for results was at best very harsh. The other three managers to have a go all have excellent pedigrees either as a player, manager or both. Not one of them could get a tune out of the players in 2018. Not one.

All this year we have, quite rightly sometimes, berated the players for their performances when the fundamentals of the club have falling apart at the seams. Its like building a brand new house on a foundation of sand and then blaming the bricklayer when the walls start to crack and fall down. There are other circumstances that throw weight to this argument, quite a few in fact, but none so damning that 4 different managers have had no effect with on field performances. The whole shebang is clearly not working, in any other business there would a vote of no confidence and the top brass removed and replaced before the ship hits the iceberg. Because this has gone so bad so quickly we have hit the league 1 iceberg already and now look like damage limitation rather than a full out rescue.

As the for the tipping point of January, that looks like it might come too late. Might be a case of writing the season off at that stage and waiting for a new regime to start the summer with a fresh start. A terrible and negative way to look at things but sometimes you have to take extreme measures and go a couple of steps back in order to progress forward.

    One thing every Chief Ece
The thing is though, and you’ll no doubt know it as well as anybody, to be successful in business you need to listen to those around you to inform your decisions. There is not a person in football who couldn’t foresee the trickle down of wage demands caused by the Premier League TV deals. Moreover there can have been barely a person alive who thought appointing Collins was a good idea. I cannot believe that McCall, Black, Abbot, Mason, Grayson, Rhodes, any of the agents he speaks to and other football chairman and CEOs have not given him advice. His major error of judgement has been not listening to that advice and thinking he knows better.

He should go to Accrington and spend time with their chairman, see how he runs his club as a community asset, lets the manager manage football affairs and is humble mixing with other fans. He should visit Blackburn, see how the Venkys turned it around, how unfashionable Burnley stay in the PL, Forest Green about how Dale Vince has built a club. He should then go to Chesterfield, Torquay, Orient, York, Stockport and see how they’re doing and how hard it is to get back in to the league when you have Salford throwing £4k a week at strikers. And may be Darlington and Rushen and Diamonds and see what can really happen to a club when the shit hits the fan.

Laying off backroom staff, or staff being compelled to leave because they couldn’t work with him, eg Wendy James, James Mason, John Duckworth, David Dowse, Sam Collins, and doubtless many others.

Yup. In my opinion, they paid more for the club than it is worth in terms of physical assets, revenue streams, playing assets etc and the real winners were ML and the Rhodes'. R&R are going to have to spend several years 'stripping their assets' before they can hope to recover the €6mill they paid for the club, if ever.

Naming himself as Director of Football, with his statement ‘I know football’!

Frankly he doesn’t. This is evidenced by the direction that he, as the self appointed Chief Officer, has taken the club.

If he was not the owner, then he would have been sacked/resigned months ago.

That was the problem mate, they never intended to invest, their whole investment was spunked on the purchase price. Problem is thats only the start, its business suicide to pay that much for an asset and have no real funds to invest in its future. I've my theory of how all this was going to pan out from the start and unfortunately i've watched it happen in front of my own eyes every week. Worse thing is that theory ends in unmitigating disaster, which is were we are heading fast. Make no bones about it league 2 is going to be a real struggle with the state this club is in. It needs a clear out and a new regime with a clear, sensible and workable strategy to turn this around.

At least by putting everything into the first team budget, ML & JR listened to the manager and gave him the best chance.

Parky then paid them back several times over.

Not just saying to Phil Parkinson "You carry on doing what you're doing. Here's another £100k a year for your salary and £2m for the budget"

If he even mentioned being a sounding board got ideas to PP he shouldn't just have been instantly sacked he should probably have been sectioned.
