1. Pursuing a lucky dip approach to recruitment in the hope we might unearth a player worth serious money.
2. Treatment of SM. He nearly made their aspirations come true, and they hung him out to dry.
3. Getting involved in the football side of things, beyond setting budgets.
4. This summer's debacle. Just wtf?!
5. Not valuing people. His treatment of SM and James Mason as prime examples, and the inferences of others as to his lack of respect. He sees footballers as commodities, to make him money. Ostensibly, this may be correct but it should not inform all dealings with people.

The decision to spend six weeks signing players without a manager and then appoint the youth team coach as the manager is without a doubt the most stupid decision ever taken by a Bradford City owner in the history of the club. It makes Richmond's summer of madness look like some kind of divine masterstroke engineered by a genius. I'm pretty sure that you could select a random supporter out of the stands and that they wouldn't have made such a catastrophic error. Edin is still trying to underplay it by insisting that it seemed like the right decision at the time, but we should never let him forget this one. This is a level of incompetency that you would struggle to fabricate.

At the time, I never believed it was just a pipe dream and R&R really wanted to do it all on the cheap. Anybody with two brain cells who has been successful in business as Rupp has and as financially savvy as Rahic has made out could have spent a few hours looking at how other clubs have been promoted to the Championship in recent times and what its has required from the owners with additional short term investment. There's a list - Sheffield, Wigan, Bolton, Blackburn, PNE, Millwall, Rotherham, MKD, Barnsley, Brizzles - who in recent times have been promoted and have done so because of their owners personal financial commitment to their clubs. How else would R&R expect it to be delivered?
But no, none of this has really happened. R&R have a very different view on how to run a promotion seeking football club from most other successful owners and it's barely different from the ML&JR approach. And we are now faced with the reality of the R&R approach, ie trying to do it on the cheap. For all sorts of reasons, we face an uncertain future. If recent results continue until the transfer window opens, we could be 12 or even 15 points adrift from the safety zone and with half a season to go at that point, that's an almighty deficit to overcome.Craven Koppite, Pineapple Salesman, Nick_W_ and 4 others like this. -
I agree with both @Dennis and @Rogered Tart posts on this thread. It is gloomy but no point in hiding away, it is coming to the time when we all have to stop regurgitating the past and start to reconstruct our club again. This reconstruction cannot happen with Rahic at the helm, he needs to leave. Rupp either needs to sell up or roll his sleeves up and invest in this club. Either way we need somebody to run this club who actually knows and understands how to take this club forward, yes we need investment that cannot be paid immediately, but in the grand scheme of football finance we are not talking billions, but maybe a couple of million. This needs to be totally invested in the first team squad. I am all for investing our own youth, but that will require extra investment. In my mind this needs to be seperate with its own coaching team.

Should have kept his mouth shut when he first joined and given PP what ever he wanted and there would have been no need for all this rubbish that happened with McCall et al. We’d be in the championship now and probably surviving just about each season.
As for the rest, we get rid of people at a football club, which to me is fine, football clubs are different workplaces to anywhere else in the world. My problem is we never replace anyone with equal or Better quality. Be that backroom team, club staff, players, managers. We should constantly be looking for something better but we just go for club member after club member leaving with no real replacement. Consider our opponents yesterday who were also sold by their former owners around the same time as R&R bought us. Just as ML&JR did, the former owners of Pompey came clean and said they didn't have the resources to get Pompey promoted to the Championship and become established there. So they sold the club and their ground to a new owner who could take them forward for £5.5mill. About the same time, R&R bought our club without its own ground for in excess of €6mill. Trying to be objective about it, I wonder who got the better deal?Pineapple Salesman, Rogered Tart, HUDDERSSBANTAM and 1 other person like this. -

All this year we have, quite rightly sometimes, berated the players for their performances when the fundamentals of the club have falling apart at the seams. Its like building a brand new house on a foundation of sand and then blaming the bricklayer when the walls start to crack and fall down. There are other circumstances that throw weight to this argument, quite a few in fact, but none so damning that 4 different managers have had no effect with on field performances. The whole shebang is clearly not working, in any other business there would a vote of no confidence and the top brass removed and replaced before the ship hits the iceberg. Because this has gone so bad so quickly we have hit the league 1 iceberg already and now look like damage limitation rather than a full out rescue.
As the for the tipping point of January, that looks like it might come too late. Might be a case of writing the season off at that stage and waiting for a new regime to start the summer with a fresh start. A terrible and negative way to look at things but sometimes you have to take extreme measures and go a couple of steps back in order to progress forward.Pineapple Salesman, vladimir, Idlebantam and 1 other person like this. -
One thing every Chief Ece
He should go to Accrington and spend time with their chairman, see how he runs his club as a community asset, lets the manager manage football affairs and is humble mixing with other fans. He should visit Blackburn, see how the Venkys turned it around, how unfashionable Burnley stay in the PL, Forest Green about how Dale Vince has built a club. He should then go to Chesterfield, Torquay, Orient, York, Stockport and see how they’re doing and how hard it is to get back in to the league when you have Salford throwing £4k a week at strikers. And may be Darlington and Rushen and Diamonds and see what can really happen to a club when the shit hits the fan.Bantamsteve, Craven Koppite, Two Legs and 1 other person like this. -
Laying off backroom staff, or staff being compelled to leave because they couldn’t work with him, eg Wendy James, James Mason, John Duckworth, David Dowse, Sam Collins, and doubtless many others.

Naming himself as Director of Football, with his statement ‘I know football’!
Frankly he doesn’t. This is evidenced by the direction that he, as the self appointed Chief Officer, has taken the club.
