You couldn't have chosen a more popular pair to compare SM and KB with. PMSL.

I don't particularly feel like I need to justify it but with 12 games to go, 1 point off the play offs and with a managerial appointment that was generally quite positively received just 10 days ago I'm genuinely surprised that over 50% of people on that poll think the season is over.

I suspect it might be because ppl’s emotions with regard to City are rather fragile given what we have gone through in the last 3 years. A hair’s breath away from the Championship, only to be plunged down into LG 2 by gross mismanagement of the club. SM’s appointment was probably the only highlight in a rather dull and despondent season; expectations that Stuart and Kenny might be able to pull this season out of the fire, only to be reminded he is not exactly a magician and it will take time. I doubt it myself but hey I have been proven wrong more than once when it comes to city.

Only hope they can get us in the play offs or next season isn't going to fun if things don't start well.

I said I would of given McCall a 4 year contract because at the end of the season ANOTHER rebuild required and the what.

We've to believe McCall can still do it this season as next season will be tough and I am not convinced Rupp will back us or we will have the budget of this season.

I'm thinking it's going to the wire.
Bradford away at Northampton Town needing three points.
Then the last game at home against Walsall City require one point to finish seventh.

So you’re saying that you are basing your claim on a very amateurish biased poll that has 3 negative options out of 4?

It just shows how desperate you are to cling onto any negativity surrounding McCalls appointment.

Would advise you get over it and move on

Needs to get a leader in midfield who can tackle, get box to box - good at the ugly stuff. Any available out of contract we can afford - even just to the end of the season? Could be the difference to our play off chances or a season of mid table mediocrity.

It's not over but I am not that hopeful, even when were in the mix for autos I saw us beat Mansfield & Morecambe and didn't think we were any better than them. Just like I said with Bowyer, Smc desrves a medal if he can this shower up. We are in right pickle tbh, going up or not, we need to see the back of just about all of them.

Would literally keep ROD AOC and Wood. Wouldn't lose a wink of sleep of the rest going. I would sign Cooke before it's too late. Think he could flourish under McCall and he would be allowed to roam further forward. I would sacrifice some of the playing budget and get the pitch sorted once everyone is released. If we are going to let McCall try stamp his mark he's going to need a decent surface to get us playing the way he wants. Can't keep having full clear-outs year after year but I do think it's necessary this year for us to move forward. The board need to start planning longer term instead of being so short sighted and hoping for the best. Get a plan in place and stick to it.

I am another who wants the pitch sorting, once and for all, above any short term lower league success.

I'm not clinging to any negativity. I don't think he's a good manager but I want him to do well obviously. That has no impact on my comments though.

But, yes, I was talking about the results of the poll which seems a reasonable thing to do in the thread about that very topic.

Less than 2 weeks ago (after McCall's appointment and the closure of the transfer window) we had a similar poll showing that ~85% of people thought we'd get into the play offs. https://bantamtalk.com/index.php?threads/our-expectations-in-the-league-poll.3616/

Now that's under 50%. I don't think it's odd to be surprised about how quickly that has diminished regardless of what you think about the appointment.

It's not going to happen under Rhodes and Rupp and certainly not while we don't own the stadium or under our current lease terms.

McCall said last week that he had been offered a few out of contract players by agents. However, McCall said that he wanted to check out every player in the current bloated squad before even contemplating bringing in anyone else.

Fact is, that at one point on Saturday when we were winning, we were up to 5th. Shows how tight this division is. IF Stuart can get some cohesion in this squad, and settle on a team of players he thinks can do the job, then maybe we can get a run together and get back into the playoff places, staying there til the end of the season.

However, it's bloody ridiculous that we've got such a massive squad, but if we get any more injuries again, in any position, we're back in trouble again. I'd say out of all the "back up" players we have, I'd only put my faith in McGee replacing OD. Anderson for Reeves? Guthrie for Novak? Don't even want to think about the defence....

Madness this. The squad is to big but him and Black would of watch us this season over and over now and the last 3 squads have near enough been the same.

Cooke is injured or would of been in the squad on Saturday. Guthrie got a chance because he wasn't known and was found to be shi&e so out of the squad.

Think for me Rhodes and Rupp have said work with what you've got.

Well the outcome should be another midfielder required hopefully _ unless by some miracle he can do a "marshall" with one of the existing midfielders....

It’s all in the mind. If we’d started the season as badly as Port Vale did and then climbed to the position we’re currently in we’d be buoyant thinking we were on for a late drive to the play offs. It’s still mathematically very possible and who is to say a couple ahead won’t pull up. Two wins and the mood changes completely. The team that comes on strong now and gets in via the last place sometimes has the momentum to go up. Just ask
Gary Bowyer or on second thoughts don’t bother.
