Yes, Jon. It's all about that big stepping up ......... As Patrick is finding out.
I remember James Hansons first few games, not to mention our very own 'lightweight' McBurnie.
Stepping up and adjusting takes different players a different length of time, which you already know, so I'm not trying to insult your intelligence, there. The thought is that some fans are more patient than others, and so long as Bruenker continues to improve, I for one will support the lad, 100%.

I like him; if everyone else had as much effort in as he has, we'd be higher up the table.
If he improves as much again, as he did from his debut to the Shrewsbury game, then we'll have a very good player on our hands. Of course, the Shrewsbury game might be his limit. Time will tell.
In the meantime, whilst he puts in the effort, let's encourage him and see how far he can go.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Allotment Bantam, BantamRose, RonnieBrown and 4 others like this. -

All of those who slated him after his 20mins debut in English football should hang their collective heads in shame.
Comments such as "pub player" "looks like he won a raffle to play", really are designed to dent a players confidence.
The step up in class in a different country is massive but, some of the posters on C & B were not prepared or not intelligent enough to see this.Inspector, BoingBoing, Nick_W_ and 3 others like this. -
Slightly bemused at the criticism aimed at Brunker. Two decent results in the last 2 games and Wyke looking a bit more like his old self. Obviously not attributing solely to Kai but he's contributed.
Yes he needs to improve parts of his game not least stupid fouls I think a lot of that is down to over enthusiasm but that can be coached. May be a testament to our weak squad but I feel he's our best option at the moment. With Jones not fit and Taylor gone who else could be up front with Wyke?
We've tried playing Wyke up on his own and it's not a system that seems to work for usPineapple Salesman, Allotment Bantam, Interested Bystander and 3 others like this. -

The only useful aspect of Kai was taking some of the pressure off Charlie. For a big guy he struggled (failed?) to win a single header, committed a few fouls including that numpty edge of the box one, and did indeed run round like a headless chicken. But you can't give the lad less than 110% for effort - he was knackered well before he was subbed.
Wyke on the other hand getting criticism for last night, WTF? Watch his game, excellent lay-offs, great through balls - including the assist for Lund's goal, and finally being alert enough after 90-odd minutes' graft to poach a goal for himself. His best game in a long time.WilsdenBantam, HUDDERSSBANTAM, Rogered Tart and 2 others like this. -
Good interview. Of course he is only half baked, but he shows a willingness to learn, enthusiasm and commitment to his own development and the team. However, what saw last week he has improved, and he looks like there is more to come.

It was a pleasure to see him pick up the ball with the intention of going forward. A good pre-season to work on fitness and game time now to form an understanding with Wyke and there could be a good partnership there for the future. There’s room for improvement and I think he has it in him to do it and more importantly, he wants to.

Why not? It's a team game. I thought the scoreline flattered us to be honest. First goal was decent - good ball in from Tony, second goal was a keeper mix up, third goal was a keeper error.
Second half they were all over us. I thought Robinson, Kai and Wyke were all off their game. Guy as usual had a decent match.
Despite the scoreline, I was watching both their two centrebacks, and wishing we had someone like that, who can carry the ball out, to feet up to the centre circle and beyond.
We were scrappy, the ball was in the air more than the ground (perhaps just as well). I'm glad we won, but I'm not jumping on the "we can still make the playoffs" bandwagon just yet. The way Jacobs and the other guy on the radio were talking about Grayson bringing the team together and playing amazing football, made me want to ring them up and remind them that it was only 12 days ago we got spanked by Blackpool and had only won once in 14 games.BoingBoing, Tillo and Morley Bantam like this. -
