Defining Rhodes as a cancer of this club is stepping over the line for me.

Maybe me being soft Onside. Just the tag 'cancer' being attached to any man. It dose not sit right with me.

Certainly BFG's negotiations with OnDigital weren't helpful to the club's position. But it was the Board which gave the go ahead to the rebuilding of the ground and the taking on of more loans with no guarantee around the revenues expected from OnDigital to repay the loans. Other clubs also fell into the same trap. But the final nail in our coffin was the nearly £8mill which the Rhodes and Richmond families took out from the club despite the club being loss making. That was agreed at the Board when JR was present. He was as culpable as the rest of the board for Admin 1.

I can tell you from first-hand experience that Ryan is a very accomplished operator.

During COVID the club has operated with a skeleton staff (even by City's threadbare standards!) and he has been liaising with the EFL and having to adapt to constantly moving safeguarding goalposts.

In the absence of staff, he's taken on additional commercial duties. He's secured many new 5 and 6 figure deals which have substantially increased commercial revenues year on year. All at a time when other clubs are losing commercial partners. JCT and Bradford College are just a couple of major deals secured. Just review the social media feeds to see some of the new sponsor's that have been signed up.

He also chairs the Supporters Group meetings. Feel free to attend the next one and I'm sure you'll be reassured after meeting him in person.

You've not had a proper answer yet but here's a simple reply to your question together with an explanation.

Yes! But clearly chose note to do that.

At the time that the dividends were approved, the Rhodes' held 16,114,550 shares in the Holding company. The Richmonds held 15,950,444 shares in the Holding company. As you can see, the Rhodes were the majority shareholder, a fact often overlooked when it comes to determining who was really culpable for some things. The facts are however difficult to ignore.

At any time and whatever the bluster of BFG, the Rhodes' could have out voted him on any matter brought to the Holding company. And one of those matters was the decision on the dividend payment. But they didn't.

The club will never move forwards with him at the helm. Until someone with a modern, forward thinking mindset replaces him and move this club into the modern era, we'll continue to stagnate or move backwards.

As has been said many times, Edin had good ideas. He was simply incapable of executing them without making a balls up of everything he touched.

Admin 2 was caused by the non-payment of a preferred creditor left over from Admin 1 and done deliberately to precipitate another administration. That helped to partially clear the books of the remaining debts of £14mill. It was done when Gibb was on a skiing holiday which led to the megaphone rant on the pitch on his return. As you suggest, he was the innocent party in that.

Rhodes has now been here nearly 2 years and what has happened in that time?

Further decline and general apathy on the scale of the pre-parky days, with no sign of that changing anytime soon.

    Urgent change needed.

Nobody has suggested that at all. Boards exist to make important decisions which can have serious impacts on their company's future. As an example, decisions on dividend payments can only be taken by the board. The taking on of commercial and investment loans are a matter for the board. Decisions to spend relatively large sums on new construction are decisions for the board. Board members are expected to question the executives (in this case GR) on other things which might impact on the future position of their company. I'd probably expect in the case of a football club that the board would as a minimum be asking questions about players' contracts especially if they were significant like Carbone's and Ward's.

It's not about blaming one party or another. Boards are about collective responsibility. If a board member is concerned about an issue, they have a duty to speak up about it. That's even enshrined in the Companies Act. Those kinds of decisions at VP either went ahead with the tacit or explicit agreement of the entire board or some of the board were asleep at the wheel.

First of all, Bradford City under Richmond had been spending far too much for years.

Was the time to step in was when we spent 1.3 million on Rankin? When we signed off on wages for players like Stuart, Beagrie, Deano, etc?

Very easy now, isn't it, to say 'but we shouldn't have spent on Carbone, Ward and Petrescu' when the main man had the bit between his teeth and would have told you we're now an established PL club playing European football and we need to go forwards not backwards.

Very rich of you posters here who bleat on about ambition now and how it's lacking and bleat on about how we should invest in training facilities, better players, infrastructure, scouting, and all by increasing ST prices and outside investment, which had been the whinging, whining narrative for years now.

Well we literally had all that, big money signings, stadium expansion, biggest shop in the UK, the kind of things we are demanding over and over, but yeah, a major shareholder should have stopped the owner from doing all that despite the fact that at the time it was working???

Reality check, I'm afraid guys, Rhodes was never in a position to stop that, and if you were in his shoes, you wouldn't have stopped GR either.

Do not be hypocrites in hindsight,it's not a good look.

    Long post but quick question.

Was he in a position to vote against it turn down the £8m dividend paid out from a loss making company?

I don’t think the fans were clamouring for constant stadium improvements and were probably embarrassed by the claim to have to have the largest club shop in England. Most City fans knew the signings of Collymore, Carbone and Petrescu were the signs of a madman on one, but as board members the Rhodes family should have stood up to him.

Fans currently want stadium improvements in the toilets with hot water and the pitch to last beyond November. What’s wrong with wanting your professional football club, who earned millions from cup runs, to own their own training facility. Why keep renting when owning is cheaper in the long run? We own the square root of f%+k all at the moment. That’s not down to Rahic and Rupp, that’s down in part to Rhodes who sold everything not nailed down.

Yes, you're right. David Richmond's taxi company is Arrow Cars and as far as I'm aware, it still has the contract at LBA
